Just assumed you guys know my real name. It's Jin Shin.

I rented the helmet at the track. It was only 10 bucks. I brought a head sock but didn't need to use it. The helmet was clean. I went with open face one. I'll probably rent couple more times and buy one in the summer.

I'm officially hooked. Can't believe I didn't track til now.

I have always considered myself as a very spirited driver, but the tracking is on another level for sure. It's so AWESOME.

That feeling of flooring in 3rd gear through short turns.... HARD breaking from 105mph to 30mph into skidpad turn.... it's just insane....

I will go into more detail tomorrow, but the bottom line is that if you like cars and haven't taken your car to tracks, do it.

You are missing out.

Spend $100 and just go do it. You don't need any mods to go.

Nice man. Best $100 spent ever. haha

I don't even want to mod this year. Just want to participate +6 track events.

86 is so awesome to drive on the track as stock form. The tires are shitty, but it really does its job. Yes, I was sliding around quite a bit with every nanny off, but it was surprisingly still very predictable and controllable.

I'm thinking of getting camber bolt to adjust it a little to see how it feels. We'll see.

By the way, Tom's tailight looks AWESOME in person. I still like the red one better for white FRS/BRZ.

Pick up some new tires, scrub them in on the street and go enjoy a car that can pull ~1g in the corners

The weather here is unpredictable - it's 62* now and it's supposed to snow tomorrow. I was using my friends racing rig with GT6 yesterday. It helps, but I really want spring to be here already so I can hit the track.

Yeah, I really want to pick up a set of Michelin PSS. I'm going to do couple more track events and probably pick them up with RPF1s.

Having a dilemma though. 17x8 with 225/40/17 would be the ideal set up for the stock car. It doesn't look that great though.

17x9 with 245/40/17 with coilover looks straight up beast in person. It looks so meaty and fat.

So, maybe I'll just get a set of PSS in stock size to swap out on my stock rims or just wait til I juice up the power a little and get 17x9.

We'll see. Track experience has changed a lot of mod planning for me.

Yeah, I should probably do that.

Apparently 225/45/17 tires will fit the stock rims and they are the ideal size for stock powered BRZ with 17x9 +45 RPF1s.

That should work for me. Maybe I'll just pick up the rims together at the same time. It's about 15-1600 total.

We'll see.

Heyyyy how are you?

Yeah, I did. I think I'm going to try to participate on at least 6 more event this year. Do you go out to these pretty often? It'll be cool if we can go together.

Nevermind. Just checked out your Youtube. You do go A LOT.

Let me correct that for you. I USED to go a lot. Not anymore. Last year, I only went to 4 events. But I did go with Extreme most of the time. I do want to go back to SOW to run the CCW direction in the BMW to get a better lap time though.

I'll be at CVR in April for sure. 5/11 may work too (depends on weather, I don't go when it's hot, not good for FI cars ). That twilight event is tempting. I've yet to try a night event.

Oh...and AAA in November for sure also.

Wow. Didn't know Twilight means it's a night event.

We can run from 4PM to Midnight. That's AWESOME. I'm in.

I'm currently shopping around for a set of 17x9 +35 RPF1s and 225/40/17 Dunlop ZII.

Why not go for 245/40 if you're going with 9" wide wheels?

Hmm that's a good question.

I don't really want to touch much of engine mods for a year or two. So, wanted to stay as light as possible.

Should I just get 245/40? That's what most of the modified FRS/BRZ guys are running on 17x9.

I think those cost 3 times more.

I'd rather spend those $ on tires.

RPF1 17x9 are like $970 for the full set.

I'm pretty much set on RPF1s. Saw them in person at the track on couple FRS/BRZs. Looks awesome with some fat tires.

This is basically what I want.

Not sure on color, but rim/tire/drop-wise, this is what I want for my car in the end.

What do you guys think about the color on the rim?

Silver vs. Bronze vs. Black

It's so awesome to see someone else get absolutely pumped about the track

Do yourself a favor, get some lightweight rims and racing rubber, and just go have fun. You have no idea how much the stock rims/tires let you down.

Then come down to Texas and let me drive it You can have a go in the 911!

Gunmetal. The guy that bought my headlights had 17x9 gunmetal RPF1s on his Hot Lava FR-S and holy crap they looked amazing.

Also, everyone does bronze on a Subaru. Don't do bronze.

Nice.

Which size of tires do you have on?

Yeah, it was incredible. Will definitely go back out there from now on.

After the event was over, I was coming back home thinking I should just get a set of lightweight rims and sticky tires and call it a day. Didn't really want much engine mods for some reason. Maybe once I get to fully utilize the stock power on the tracks, I'll probably want more power. Not too sure. Still too newbie.

And man, LA is the best. How about you moving to LA!?

Oooh.. never thought about gunmetal for some reason.. I'll try to find some pics of them on a white BRZ. Someone must have it.

I've been quoted $969 for a set from two different places. My friend said he can ask couple more shops, so we'll see.

Just realized that I had used about 3/4 tank of gas for that track day.

The track was about 90 miles away from my house. So, that's 180 miles for the round trip.

I did four 20 minute sessions and racked up about 60-70 miles I think. Those were all hot laps. That's like going WOT for more than an hour.

When I got home at night, I still had a quarter tank left. Just filled up the car yesterday when the light came on. It went for 270 miles. It took about 10.5 gallon. That's like 26 mpg.

Not bad. haha

By the way, ordered a K&N Drop in filter from amazon. $40.

From the research, it seems like it's a no brainer to go with drop in filter.
