Updated rx100miii rumors

RX100M3:
20MP sensor (same as RX100M2 model)
ISO 125-25600
24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens
Built in View finder (SVGA OLED Tru-Finder 1440k dots)
Tiltable screen (180 degrees up)
Record in XAVC S format (Same format of the Sony A7s but with no 4K output option).
Almost same size and weight as the current RX100/M2 models.
I have been told all other specs are the same of the current RX100II model.
Price is said to be around 800-850 Euro in Europe. Should be around $800-850 in USA (US price is my guess)

Seems like most people are using the Metabones adapters for the Sony cameras and getting awesome results with it. They have electronic control of aperture. I would be completely content with buying one to use with my A7R. No, I didn't buy one, I am just putting myself in that mindset.

btw if the RX100III has 24-70mm lens I will buy it. 24mm would be fking sick on that cam, and 2.8 on the top end is considerably better than the 4.9 on the older models.

That metabones adaptor is too expensive for what it does. It's like $300 when there are ones for 150 that do the same thing.

If I was getting one I'd go by recommendations and I'm seeing Metabones as the one to get.

Well if I'm gonna spend that much, I might as well get the speedbooster (for me at least since I have a crop body)

My 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 become a 24-70 2.0 and 70-200 2.0 with no crop.

speedbooster is a metabones...its increases your widest aperture by a full stop or more while decreasing any focal enhancement.

I have the metabones speed booster made specifically for the blackmagic pocket camera.

They are a good company.

from the research I did I did get the impression that the pros have a common consensus that Metabones is solid gear.

good to know.

Don't get me wrong. It is good gear. But I think for canon it's over priced. Look at the price of canon vs the other mounts

Ohh I know.

What I meant was that for the EF to Emount it's $600 where as Nikon G to Emount it's 430.

Most other conversions are like $350-$450 why canon is $600

anyways.

In other news I rented a Zeiss 16-70mm f4 for my NEX 6 to use while in London and Paris. Can't wait to try it as the full frame equivalent is just right at 24-105mm.

Can you still control aperture with the chapter adapters?

Yes, aperture and auto focus.

The ones that don't are even cheaper.

based on the reviews, I would rather go with Metabones than cheap stuff. just personal preference.

I would not pay full price for the Canon stuff, it's why I don't buy their WFT-E7a and all that overpriced BS. I think they meant to call that the WTF-E7a.

It's just an example. I've found better at around $150 but can't find it right now.

Well this is lame.
Sony decided to announce the RX100M3 a few weeks later (Maybe may 16th)

The A77M2 is still in a few hours.

Also the pricing of the A7S is delayed as well

I really think Sony is trying to play it right with the a7S' pricing... too high and it's going to turn off a lot of people... too low, then they will screw themselves over because it would hurt the sales of the a7 and a7R (perhaps). Maybe that's why the pricing is being delayed.

Yea, I hope it's priced well too.

Lets see the base A7 is 1700 and the A7R is at $2300 a $600 difference. if the premium price is based off the A7R, then $2900?

Or hopefully it's based off the base A7

The only thing really turning me off about the A7S is the lack of on-chip phase detect auto focus.

yup, another reason why I haven't jumped on the a7 series. Still hoping for a heavily improved a99 replacement down the line

If Sony is really smart about wanting to really sell the A7s...they will lower the prices on the other two models to make room for this one at a reasonable cost.

The 2 lenses were true.
"Surprise! Sony also announces the new Zeiss FE 16-35mm f/4.0 FE lens!

Well it was true after all! Indeed Sony announced two new Full Frame E-mount lenses. Well, one is the already pre-announced 28-135mm PZ zoom. But the second is the long time rumored Zeiss 16-35mm f/4.0 FE OSS lens! Release is said to be “mid year”. No price info yet."
