That's exactly how I feel every time I look at that picture. Like I'm about to slide off my chair into the water...

Rob,

Great pics, I think the things you take pictures of are very unique and some of your travels and experiences have been greatly captured through your shots.

Tl-lover,
My hat does go off to Tl-lover for his composition. Your shots have great lines and it is truly a gift to not only be able to take a picture of something, but frame it in a way that it's just that much 'more'.

Everyone else: Great shots, was not aware we had this many shutterbugs on ACL.

What do you all think of the idea of something like an AZ monthly photo "assignment?" Just decide on a vague one or two word theme and see what everyone comes up with. If we wanted to we could make a contest out of it with a poll and have the winner choose the next theme. If anything it would be motivation to just get behind the glass and shoot.

Me too. Now I just need to get my hands on a digital SLR. This point-and-shoot crap isn't gonna cut it anymore.

My new one, (no photo's up yet)

5 shots per second and an instant turn on, press the on button and shoot, no boot time, not to mention all the other features

I'm trying to think of how the mechanics of the photo assignment would work. Question for the mods, can a regular thread be made into a poll at any time? If not, then maybe we should skip the contest idea and just work out a theme among ourselves. Otherwise, wouldn't we end up having one thread for sumbissions and a separate thread with the poll? IMO, that would be a PIA for both the participants and people that wanted to vote.

Also, I think it would be a good idea to set a max size of the images. I was thinking something like width or height <= 800 pixels.

We can add a poll at any point but I think we should limit the submissions to within a certain timeframe. I also agree on the 800px cap. If the submitter wants to have a higer res version available, they have to link to it.

I considered limited submission time a given. For the sake of not cluttering up this thread any further, I'll put together a proposed set of guidelines and post them separately. I have busy day ahead of me so I may not be able to get to it until later in the afternoon.
