Wow, 12 fps, that's just wild. Not that I need that, but uhhhh, wow.

I have to say, 1.3x crop at 16mp has me going @@.
I would actually prefer even less, but that's okay. A rough number crunch
says the photosites are still 85% larger than the 7D.

I guess it'll be a 3K camera?

What would the equivalent MP be for full frame and 1.6x?

Cause the 5DmkII has the same density as the 20/30D

Some more rumors:

Native ISO 25,600 (boost to 102,400)
USD $4999

CR said that one source said it would be Full frame

really curious about what the next 1D will be, not that I would be getting one.

I can't see the ISO as high unless it's FF.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that it's not FF.

I don't see Canon leaving their 1.3, it allows them so much with a PJ/Sports Body.

I don't think the megapixels matter that much in this camera, but they'll inevitably go up to 14 or 16mp. ISO might get a boost, but I'd be very surprised if gets into 102K teritory. 1080p video is a given, as is an entirely new AF, along the lines of the 7D. Anything other than that will be a surprise I think.

I can't see them going up on the MP and getting better ISO. When looking back at some older pictures that I shot with the 1D3, 3200 was pushing it.

7D was able to do both at the same time.

Here's my crude calc:
1DV (1.3x): 28.7mm x 19.1mm / 16MP = 34.26 scrungeos per pixel
1.6x: 22.3x14.9 = 9.6MP
FF = 36 x 24 = 25MP

Pretty interesting - roughly same as my 40D! However there are two generations of
'we cranked up the MP, but the ISO/Noise is improved so it doesn't suck' added onto it.

5K? Has anyone seen my wallet? It shrieked, withered up, and I can't find it anymore.

Yea if they can achieve such good high iso and high MP on the 1.6x crop I can imagine 16mp on a larger sensor would get good high iso.

But I bet 102400 will be unusable unless in emegency

Yes it seems to be a lot better that any of the 1.6's before hand. I see the 1.3 being better than the 1D3 and getting keepable 3200 and 6400. But not as good as a FF sensor. Above 6400 is reaching for.

So now the question is, I wonder when the 60D is coming out?

I guess it's going to be quite a while. Hrm.
7Ds are starting to get out there - Best buy's have them 'in stock' all over the place.

So a few months back there were rumors about a Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L Mk. II coming out in the Fall - any news? I can't find anything, but I ran across this on Craigslist:

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...438014312.html

Smells fishy.

Interesting...that would be a really nice addition. Do you know what they were supposedly changing about it in the MkII?

No clue. Better build quality? Better edge performance at large apertures? Better overall sharpness at < f/2? It seems those are all areas for improvement, as the focusing is already fast and the IQ > f/2 seems to be excellent.

Also, a patent application from Canon just showed up on Google that seems to outline a fancy new 14-24mm f/2.8L.
