Well it's not known that it will be the mkIV but that's what people are speculating

and it's September 29 2009 not 2099

I doubt it is (and hope that it isn't) anything that would make me reconsider my 7D.

Well if it is an mkIV it would be more than 2x the cost of the 7D

So I should hold off buying the 2 1/2 7Ds in my shopping cart and see what the press conference reveals?

just saw this on fb posted by Canon rumors guy....

I just received an email in regards to a replacement of the 24-105 f/4L IS. The email says the new lens is slightly wider and longer while retaining the f/4 aperture. The new Hybrid IS will be implemented in the lens.

The writer of the email claims to have seen the lens.

This is the first I’ve heard of it. I’ll ask around.

:cigar: You know, sometimes a lens is just a lens. :cigar:

Speaking of overall Canon stuff, what's with Canon bailing on PMA? I'm wondering if this is a way for them to cut back on the new product rollouts during the current economic downturn.

lastest 1DmkIV rumor:

Announcement – October 20, 2009 [CR3]
October 12th, 2009 | 24 Comments | Posted in Canon 1D Mark 4, Canon 1Ds Mark 4

It’s coming (1D Mark 4)
It looks certain that Canon will introduce a new camera on Tuesday Oct. 20th. Most likely it will be the 1D Mk IV, with very high ISO. Probably as high as ISO 102,400. The camera will have an APS-H (1.3x Crop) sensor.

I have no information on resolution, fps or movie options yet.

CR3?
I’d rate this CR 2.5-2.9.

Very solid source.

Other Info [CR1]
A separate email stated Canon would be sending its entire pro-staff to Vancouver for the 2010 games to promote the camera.

The same email said we can expect delivery date to follow the same timeframe as the 7D.

The last 1D?
As speculated in the past, a couple of sources think this (1D Mark 4) is the end of the 1D line from Canon. We will be seeing only one EOS-1 body in the future. Let the 3D rumors commence.

1Ds Mark 4 [CR2]
Spring time frame for the next 1Ds. It will be 32mp.

cant wait to see what they are going to do.

Hmm you think they moved up the release because of nikon?

It was pretty certain that it would be released around Jan.

But this time frame makes sense for the winter olympics.

We shall see next Monday

Don't you wish turning down the contrast and increasing the brightness would show which EOS 1 it was.

Sounds like that is different than the actual rebates since it's mail in and doesn't include lenses.

And I don't see how it screwed over early 7D adoptors. Says you get $50 if you purchased and registered before oct 12th.

Sounds like it's great for early buyers.

some new stuff at CR.

Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS II [CR1]
October 18th, 2009 Posted in Canon Lenses

New Source
I’m told to expect a new 70-200 f/2.8L IS to be announced with the 1D Mark V (Skipping IV?).

Lenses have generally been very tough to track down with Canon. The only real success we’ve had was with the 7D.

The new source says to expect 1 other lens to be announced with it. Availability in the distant future.

Canon EOS 1D Mark V [CR1]
October 18th, 2009 Posted in Canon 1Ds Mark 4

Latest Specs (1D Mark V seems to be the moniker now)

16mp APS-H
12fps
1080p @ 24/25, 30 & 60 fps
Ergonomic Changes
19 Selectable AF points

Video Oriented Accessories
Another email claims the 1Dv will have a whole host of video related accessories launched with it.

The camera will be shipping at the end of November worldwide.
