So MSRP of $6800.

Iirc when it actually sells the price is a bit cheaper usually?

So $6200?

If I sold all my unused/unloved cameras and unused lens I'd probably still need like $5000

Anyways can't wait to see what the 5DIII will have.

I don't think you're going to see that price for awhile, with this being their only probody things will change and the MSRP will be used for awhile. Both Canon and Nikon have changed their structure has to how retailers can sell their product, to be more at MSRP.

its not like a D3 (lol) - its 2 digic 5 processors and 1 digic 4 processor dedicated to the AF. it has just a little more firepower than a D3.

Since Yummy doesn't do cameras, I thought I emulate him in this thread.

You have to start saying that anyone who uses Canon thinks they're better than anyone else.

naming is odd tho.. maybe thats the part that was 'revolutionary'...

I wonder what Nikon is thinking. They might be laughing.

Not suggesting he should be impressed with the 1D X but I don't think there's anything Canon can do at this point to impress Jup. I'll agree the specs are somewhat underwhelming which is why it will be interested to hear what the Pro's think once its in their hands. Until then, opinions are like assholes.

hey, I know what it's like to be on the 'other side' and have been a 'participant' on numerous occasions...

I don't know what people were expecting in terms of specs, I thought they were in line with the modern progression of cameras. And I think the AF system is gonna be incredible, having its own Digic IV processor and all.

also, 12fps on a FF at 18mp is quite fast.

You guys are taking me serious? I flat out said what my comments were. And as said, it's about time Canon did what the customers wanted IQ, not MP's.

just noticed it has 2 joysticks - you can do AF point selection in vertical mode (NICE) - wondered why the older cams didn't have this.

I'm pretty happy with the specs, it's moved forward by a good amount in pretty much everything.

The dual CF card slots is pretty cool, glad to see that CF is still alive. What I don't understand is, if memory is getting cheap to make (well, at least with SD cards), why are CF cards still kinda pricy?

Because the continue to get faster and faster. Want good cards?, don't over pay for Sandisk, look at Transcends.

I have a question. Is there some mechanical reason why they can't make the focus points area bigger? i.e. to cover more of the frame?

Oh boy, here's come the FP bitching on FF!

IIRC, it has to do with the size of the sensor, but that was something I read about a few years ago.

Speaking of bitching, seen a little on FM, that it's only 18mp. Didn't stay around to read it.

I think in the past they have had large size files available for download eh? maybe they didn't want their servers crashing.

It's the first "real" thing for Canon uses to get happy about in awhile.
