Thanks guys for the suggestions above.
So, at Costco (Canadian Costco that is... so, "Canadian Pricing"), they have a WD 4TB external hard drive for $220 that's wifi/cloud enabled, and a regular WD 4TB for $169...anyone know much about these wifi/cloud models? Is it worth it? Or just get the regular ones?

Any ideas as to when Adobe will release a LR update to reade the RAW files of new camera releases....D750...7D2? I'm thinking these cameras are going to sell like hotcakes.

they usually come within a couple weeks of the cameras. Adobe is pretty good about it.

I think it's just an advertisement for the mobile app

okay, figured it out... Right click on any of the right panel headers and check the box beside "Lens Corrections" in the context menu.

it's handy to save space there and accessibility, if there's a module you don't use.

Btw do you guys think that LR6 is going to be a cloud subscription based app? I hate that. I just want the software not some monthly payment.

I don't think so but $10 a month for Lightroom and Photoshop is a pretty good deal given that you'd always have the latest version.

Yeah, it's worth it for me, but for others that don't use it as much, then probably not. I use Lightroom on a daily basis and occasionally Photoshop

Is that pay as you go? Or is it tied into say a 1 year contract?
For my use I'm still on LR4 because it still does what I need. I only paid $80 for the full version back in Nov 2012 since it was on sale.
If I had gone with a subscription @ $10/mo I'd have paid $230 by now.
So even if I bought LR5 upgrade at $100, I'd still have saved $50 vs the subscription.

Looking at Amazon right now, LR5 upgrade is $76.
For MY use since I rarely use PS, the $10/mo doesn't seem worth it.

Does lightroom do merge to HDR yet? If no, why not? That seems like a fairly common photography tool to have...
Also, it's a 1yr deal, you can pay it all up front or monthly at $10/mo.

Yes, upgrade are now half the price as new.
So upgrading would be best for those doing so.

Is there STILL no update for the 7D2 or D750 RAW files from Adobe?
#306
I'm sorry, still?? No update for the 7D2, damn thing just started shipping this week.
And Adobe Camera Raw 8.7 release candidate, has D750 support in it.

yah...i know.
I just figured that Adobe would have jumped on these 2 cameras as soon as they were announced since they'll both sell like hotcakes.

there has been times when Adobe got the update out either right at a camera's launch or even before it IIRC

Why do you care that I care that you care?
Anyways I just got a new refurbished quad core 2012 i7 Mac mini.
Hopefully editing on LR works better because even with my 1D2N's 8.2MP images on my older computer, it struggles. The 16.1mp NEX-6 kills my old computer. I don't even want to try the 36.4MP files when I rent an A7R in 2 weeks.

Lightroom 6
from Adobe blogpage...
Update on OS Support for Next Version of Lightroom
We are hard at work on the next major release of Lightroom, and wanted to share some information on operating system requirements in order to give everyone time to prepare for the release.
In order to leverage the latest operating system features and technologies, Lightroom 6 will require Mac OS X 10.8 or above, or a 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Focusing our work on more modern operating systems and architectures allows us to spend more time adding functionality requested by users, including additional advanced imaging features and improving general application performance.
If you are on Mac OS X 10.7, or a 32 bit version of Windows, you will continue to be able to install and run Lightroom 5 and use Lightroom mobile. However, you will not be able to install Lightroom 6 until you upgrade to a supported operating system.
If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.7, Apple offers a free upgrade (here) to a more current operating system. For Windows users, Microsoft has a how-to reference (here) to help you determine whether you are running a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows.

Does that mean they'll make better use of multi core systems and computers with a buttloaf of RAM?
