Nice!
I think I like your other one a little better though StreetKA.
To my eye, the super tight crop on the backhoe is what's throwing me off. May just be taste though. I'm definitely not one of the super-haas photogs on this board, so take it with a grain of salt.

^There are too many distracting elements for me and the halo effect seems more pronounced in this one.

i saw a shot like this a long time back that was being sold as a canvas print. Decided to mess around and just recreate the shot real quick Just wanted something to hang on the blank wall in my bedroom
I think the title "waiting..." is appropriate

HOLY SMOKES!.... now I see where grain gives a feeling. If you would have over smoothed that out it would have looked like pooh///////.......Beautifull... Could have even given it a bit more grain. In my newb opinion.

oops, I just realized I merely posted a resized version of what I sent to the printers so it's all formatted for print I actually ran a noise filter to reduce the grain cause I had never printed anything that large with that much noise in it. So that pic is after aka "smoothed out" now I wonder what it would have looked if I printed it with the orig grain, oh well I can always change it later

where I'm at with processing now. it was an underexposed shot to begin with.
March 2010:

same shot, processed in March 2008:

I've changed my processing techniques just a tad there.

I'm all for it srika too many crazy HDR/topaz shots nowadays that hurt the eyes. I'll admit that I used to process some pics like that though

correct, I do currently like "normal and plain". nothing wrong with either, really. tastes just change over time.

srika, just curious, what do you change when you process in order to get an under exposed picture to look like that 2nd picture?

well its a RAW so I had done a single-shot HDR of it with Photomatix, and bumped everything up.

AHA!!!! srika... now I see what you mean.... before, the "IN" thing was to do bold, bright & harsh. I am starting to see your point on how many people have started to see HDR as "burned out".
Kinda like in the graphic design world, where a few years ago, anybody with photoshop wanted to consider themselves a designer. FAIL.
It's back to basics & boundries & rules.... not in a bad way, just a more subtle classy move (to invoke feeling, not just raw unorganized slams of colors & layers)

My cousin had to photograph a car so I let him photograph my car in the school parking lot. Just to test and see if the film was loaded I took 2-3 pictures and this magical one came out really good. It's Kodak BN400 film and a camera from 1991 with a standard lense (I believe 50-70):
Sorry for the slight fuzziness and lack of detail, I had to scan the printed photo.

Creepy guy in the mirror.
I got to borrow a 7D. It was nice to try it out. Video is tough with an SLR - beyond difficult. I took a bunch of shots, but this was the one that stood out for me.

I wondered if that's where you were going with that!
(Though the 7D seriously rocks. Poor HLL...always mooning over mine...)
