Library of Congress debuts iconic Great Depression photos
slideshow:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/library...41455384/show/
The Library of Congress has created a remarkable set, FSA/OWI Favorites, which includes the “Migrant Mother,” by Dorothea Lange, the original film negative of which is housed at the Library of Congress. The Library preserves Lange’s original, and makes the digitized photo freely available. “Migrant Mother” is part of a landmark photo documentary project based in the U.S. Resettlement Administration, the Farm Security Administration (FSA), and later the Office of War Information (OWI). The most active years were 1935-1943, and the collection was transferred to the Library of Congress in 1944.
The Library of Congress’ newest set features 10 of the most frequently requested photos plus staff picks to introduce you to the vast archive of about 170,000 negatives and 107,000 prints of life in America during the Great Depression and World War II. Do not miss a visit to the FSA/OWI Collection in the Prints and Photographs Online Catalog (PPOC) at LOC to explore more of these amazing photos by gifted photographers who worked with 35mm and large format sheet film. Please go to the Library of Congress’ blog post for much more information and insight.
If you have never seen these, don’t pass up a moment to experience them.

Big Block go VROOOM!
Completely coincidental to TS_eXpeed’s recent time lapse post, I just came across this on one of my space nerd forums. I went to the guy’s site but I couldn’t find anywhere where he says how his 5D is “modified.”

^^^That's some super serious FPS there!
And on a semi-related note, while watching coverage of this past weekend's NHRA race, one of the Pro Stock teams had set up a small tripod on the track surface just off the rear corner of the car at the starting line. The TV guys even took a closeup of the LCD screen. I could easily make out 'Exilim' under the screen so I assume the team was using one of the high speed Casio models to record their launches.

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
If you go to flickr, and search for "iran" and sort by most recent, you'll get TONS of amazing phone pics. You get the sense of an all-out revolution. It's amazing.

Creepy guy in the mirror.
I stalk the strobist blog from time to time... Check out the latest post. The link isn't so much a picture as it is 16000 pictures...
They filmed a music vid with a 10fps Canon 1D. The crazy thing is they lit it with strobes at 10fps. An eerie feel for an eerie song.

^^I saw that yesterday. It's certainly a very tempting project for people to attempt. That said, doesn't the FAA generally "have issues" with people putting things up in the air above a certain altitude?

Cameroon—At the Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center, more than a dozen residents form a gallery of grief, looking on as Dorothy—a beloved female felled in her late 40s by heart failure—is borne to her burial.
