I've always thought that Subaru was better positioned to market themselves as the 'alternative to the SUV' carmaker with the Outback and Forester models.
Looks like the 'Benign' puts them into the "me-too" carmaker catagory. <<yawn>>

ugh...
The back, I could give a pass on, but that front looks like it's a cheap Daewoo knock-off. Nothing like the concept artwork at all.
Let's hope they fix up that grill, since they are using that 'airplane' themed grill for the rest of the model line in the future as well.
Junkster, who thinks it won't sell

Not an Ashtray
I kind of like it, although it is derivative. You can tell that visability is going to be a problem though. It has the same problem as the Murano - barely any back window.
I'll wait from the RDX instead!

Oh, I can see the car exec conversation....
"OK, lets take the ugliest parts of the
RX300 (roofline)
Honda Accord (headlights)
BMW X5 (rear)
Nissan Murano (sides)
and a hibachi (front grill)
and put them all together in one butt ugly package!!!"

Hibachi. I like the word hibachi.

Sometimes I wonder how car companies work. How could anyone at the top let something like this happen? And again, if they think they can get away with selling this for $35K they are smoking some good stuff.

I will give Subaru credit for trying. The overall concept is a cool idea, but the execution is not quite what it should have been. I'm sure it'll be great in the snow, have decent gas mileage, and provide for a comfortable ride. That being said, it's just too tall. The vehicle has so much visual height to it--especially in the back. They need to play the eye game like VW does by "blacking out" the bottom portions of the vehicle and give the rear a sloped roofline. I'm digging the Alfa tail lights, and the side profile, but the front needs to be desperately re-tooled.
Despite what everyone says, I think this thing will actually sell well. Subaru needs a vehicle like this to accomodate those ditching the brand when they need something bigger.

This is the Alfa Romeo 147
And this is the 156

Also the side view looks a lot like the Lexus RX's.

Well, I guess it's "When in doubt, copy Nissan and Lexus...". For crossovers, atleast. It's amazing how much attactivenss the nose loses in translation from sketch to production.

The sizzle in the Steak
Nice interior

The interior is quite attractive, but I still think the front is hideous.

to the buyer comes a steady diet of cheap plastic in that interior. It looks very different, but I think eventually it'l get old. Just my prediction.

The sheen doesn't say metal, but I could easily be wrong. The exterior really is terrible though, the upside down Alfa Romeo grille thing really ain't workin. If they just raised the STi and put another row of seats in it, it would look better than this bastard.

It looks better in the silver pic rather than in this pic http://thecarconnection.com/images/g...8760_image.jpg
Hard to tell, but it looks like it could go either way, have to wait till the auto show.
