Post 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S

Press release...

The new 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo

The top-of-the-range models within the 911 lineup – the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S – now offer a sharper design, further enhanced features and 20 hp more than the previous models. Performance and handling profit from innovative solutions such as the new Dynamic Boost function and the Sport Chrono Package which are now standard on all 911 Turbo variants, significantly improving responsiveness. The models are on sale now and are available as Coupe and Cabriolet versions.

Engine 3.8-liter flat six-cylinder engine with twin-turbo chargers and variable turbine geometry. Each model has 20 hp more: the new 911 Turbo now makes 540 hp while the output of the 911 Turbo S has increased to 580 hp as a result of new turbochargers with a larger impellers. The new Dynamic Boost function maintains boost pressure during load changes, which improves throttle response.

Performance For the best possible intermediate acceleration, the Sport Chrono Package comes with four programs and the Sport Response button as a standard option. Acceleration is stronger than ever before: the 911 Turbo Coupe sprints from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds, and the 911 Turbo S in 2.8 seconds — each is 0.1 seconds faster than the previous model. The Cabriolet variants need just 0.1 second more than the coupes to reach 60 mph. Top track speeds are higher as well reaching speeds of 205 miles per hour for the 911 Turbo S (7 mph faster than before) and 198 miles per hour for the 911 Turbo (3 mph faster).

Efficiency The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo models are rated at 19 mpg city/24 mpg highway/ 21 mpg combined according to the EPA. This represents a 2 mpg improvement in the city and combined cycle compared to the previous version.

Chassis Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) chassis offers an even greater spread between agile handling and ride comfort. The new automatic post-collision braking system and rear axle steering are standard features. An optional front axle lift system, which is operational at lower speeds, offers about 1.5 inches of ground clearance at the front spoiler lip for increased clearance on driveways, speedbumps or other obstacles. Additionally, the top model 911 Turbo S has Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) roll compensation and the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system as standard features. They are optional on the 911 Turbo.

Infotainment The new Porsche Communication Management system with online navigation and a state-of-the-art touchscreen is as easy to operate as a smartphone. Online capability has been improved to include real-time traffic information, Google Earth and Google Street View. The system can be readily paired with a smartphone, providing access to many more apps.

Pricing & availability The new 2017 911 Turbo Coupe starts at $159,200. The 911 Turbo S Coupe costs $188,100. The Cabriolet models have an MSRP of $171,500 and $200,400, respectively. These prices do not include a $1,050 destination charge. All 911 Turbo models are on sale now.

Porsche exteriors generally make me yawn. But their interiors are thoughtfully laid out and look fantastic.

Imagine Ford kept the mustang the same over the last forty years? Yawn.

It seems they have fixed my #1 complaint about Porsche. They used to have wayyyyyyy too many buttons.

It is amazing how much we have improved in fuel efficiency (at least on paper), 0-60 in 2.8 secs and still able to get 20mpg...

Who said EPA is useless

Post 2017 Porsche 911 GTS

Whoa momma...

Dynamic, comfortable and efficient – the new Porsche 911 GTS models

Stuttgart. Porsche is expanding the 911 product line with the GTS models. From March 2017, a total of five variants will be available in Germany: the 911 Carrera GTS with rear-wheel drive, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS with all-wheel drive – both of the above available as a Coupé and Cabriolet – and the 911 Targa 4 GTS with all-wheel drive. A newly developed turbocharger for 3.0-litre six-cylinder flat engine increases power to 331 kW (450 PS). The engine delivers 22 kW (30 hp) more than the 911 Carrera S and 15 kW (20 hp) more than the corresponding GTS prior model with a naturally aspirated engine. All variants are available with a manual seven-gear transmission or optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK).

More power for more performance

The maximum torque of 550 Nm provides even better acceleration and elasticity figures. The torque is available between 2150 and 5000 rpm. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is included as standard on all GTS models. The GTS Coupés feature the PASM sports chassis, which lowers the body by ten millimetres. The fastest sprinter in the family is the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé: With Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and the Sport Chrono Package as standard, it races from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. All GTS models feature a top speed in excess of 300 km/h. The frontrunner at 312 km/h is the Coupé with manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Despite the increase in performance, the GTS remains efficient – the 911 Carrera GTS with PDK, for example, consumes only 8.3 l/100 km according to the NEDC. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 188 g/km.

Typical GTS: Numerous black elements both inside and out

The GTS models stand out within the 911 model line not only in terms of technology, but also in their visual design: All of the vehicles are based on the wide all-wheel-drive chassis, which measures 1852 mm even on the rear-wheel-drive models. The new Sport Design front apron emphasises the sporty character. The front end is aerodynamically optimised. A low front spoiler and increased rear spoiler extension height further reduce the lift forces on the front and rear axle compared to the Carrera S models. On the rear, the GTS is unmistakeable: smoked tail lights, silk-gloss black air intake grille and central black twin tailpipes of the sports exhaust system, which is included as standard. A new black trim strip between the tail lights characterises the rear-wheel-drive models. The light strip is reserved for the all-wheel-drive models. Sport Design exterior mirrors, 20-inch wheels with central locking device painted in silk-gloss black, plus GTS logos on the doors complete the side view. The characteristic Targa bar, which is supplied in black for the first time on the GTS, also lends the 911 Targa a particularly distinctive look.

New Porsche Track Precision app and high-quality equipment

GTS genes also shape the interior. The stopwatch of the Sport Chrono Package is integrated as a central component of the dashboard. The Porsche Track Precision app has been further enhanced specially to coincide with the market launch of the GTS models. Its features include automatic recording, detailed display and analysis of driving data on a smartphone. GTS passengers sit on Alcantara seats with a new stitching pattern. The Sports seats Plus with GTS logos on the headrests can be adjusted in 4-ways electrically and provide increased lateral support and comfort. Other features include brushed, black anodised aluminium trim strips on the instrument cluster as well as a high proportion of Alcantara, which can be found on the steering wheel rim, centre console and armrests, for example.

The 911 GTS models are available to order now; including value-added tax and country-specific equipment, prices in Germany are as follows:

911 Carrera GTS 124,451 euros
911 Carrera 4 GTS 131,829 euros
911 Carrera GTS Cabrio 137,541 euros
911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabrio 144,919 euros
911 Targa 4 GTS 144,919 euros

With the way that even the base 911 is getting TT, cheaper 911+ tune is the way to go considering the huge price gap between a Carrera and 911 Turbo.

see the GTS actually looks like a 911. It's mostly about the Front bumper. Put the GTS bumper on the Turbo and voila - doesn't look like a Cayman anymore:

Next Porsche 911 GT3 Gets N/A 4.0-Liter Engine, Six-Speed Manual

Next Porsche 911 GT3 Gets N/A 4.0-Liter Engine, Six-Speed Manual

The purists have spoken, and Porsche is delivering, with a naturally-aspirated GT3 with three pedals.

Porsche

By Brian Silvestro
Jan 18, 2017

Every now and then, Porsche decides to do something that makes hardcore enthusiasts balk. First, the brand switched from air-cooled to water-cooled engines in the 911, and more recently, moved from natural aspiration to turbos in many of its latest models. But it seems this time around, Porsche is listening to the die-hards. According to the latest rumors, the new 911 GT3 is set to get a big-displacement, naturally aspirated motor and the option of a six speed manual.

Autocar got a chance to talk to an inside source at Porsche, who spilled some details on the upcoming refresh of the 991-generation 911 GT3. According to the source, the new GT3 will receive a new 4.0-liter flat six engine, different from the one found in the current GT3 RS and 911 R. This coincides with what we heard at the LA Auto Show back in November, when Dr. Frank Walliser, head of Porsche Motorsport and GT cars, told R&T the new engine would instead be sourced from Porsche's 911 RSR race car.

Autocar's source says the main development work is focused on durability, claiming the motor "has done thousands of kilometers, absolutely flat out, with no problems at all."

The source also claims the 2017 GT3 will come with a choice between a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual clutch PDK transmissions, a first for the GT3. We've known a manual version was coming for awhile now, and this news is reassurance you'll be seeing them on the street soon enough. Provided that it's a really wealthy street.

Porsche resale values have gotten crazy in the past 5 years. I wouldn't be surprised if a manual 991.2 GT3 creates demand on the used market for the purists, esp. since they're going to be rare in comparison to the PDK.

The details list it as having the same 6-speed manual transmission from the 911R but an "all-new" 4.0L engine.
