Don't get your hopes up. It won't be good since you are used to S2K by now. Everything feels like a fat sea creature to me now too.

No worries, I know that the TLX is no S2000 in throttle response and handling, and I know that it's not going to be as luxury as something like the MB C400. For its price, I'm trying to see how it compares with a Accord I4 EX-L and Touring (in Canada, we have the I4 Touring Accord ). I already know from my experience that the interior feels noticeably more upscale than the Accord. So for the test drive, I specifically want to see if the TLX is quieter than the Accord, if the handling is better than the Accord, and if the DCT is better than the CVT. I want to see if the extra $3k or so is worthwhile.

Anyway, this is a GT-R thread and I feel that I'm getting way off topic here......

i'd probably still give the edge to the GTR in a 1/4 drag race. AWD+Computer > RWD on street tires.

Z06 will most likely catch up and walk away after that.

But wait for the new GTR.

For sure it will be easier to replicate those quick 0-60mph runs in the GT-R.

um... depends on the track, i would assume.

at the high speed track, i could see Z06 being faster. But anything else, it will be a battle.

and we are comparing a brand new model and a 6 years old design.

Comparing track times from the Road Atlanta tests, the top-model Z06 performs about the same as a 2012 GTR. Will have to watch for more results from other tracks.

for the Z06, Randy Pobst got 1:30.18 (Motor Trend), and Andy Pilgrim did 1:29.88 (AutoWeek).

Quickly looking online there is a fellow Mike Skeen who ran 1:29 in a stock 2012 GTR (with stock tires).

The trap speeds which are comparable to the GTR don't give me any reason to believe that the Z06 would gain an advantage over the GTR on a track with higher top speeds.

what i meant is because of the torque and power advantage of the new Z06, it is reasonable to assume that the instant acceleration coming out of a corner will be faster than the GTR.

What makes GTR great is the 0-60 launch and 1/4 race as well as the ability to maintain speed through corners but in a rolling start (40-150),a stock GTR is really not THAT fast comparing to some of the cars it is aiming for.

The Nismo version is a bit more insane. But the standard one is becoming more of a grocery getter, just to reach a wider audience and make more sales. I gather the drive is a bit softened in the 2015 edition. On the other hand the Nismo edition is the one you want, the insane, not smooth, one!

If Nissan do the same type of Hybrid system as McLaren/Ferrari/Porsche.
Competition will be over.

I would argue everything wants to be the first gen R8. That car was an iconic flagship for an exploding car marque.

Even the current gen R8 doesn't match up to the original.

Post 2016 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition

Press release...

The 45th Anniversary Gold Edition, built off of the GT-R Premium model, commemorates the GT-R’s long heritage of world-class high performance. Featuring a special gold paint color, the limited edition model also includes a special gold-tone VIN plate located inside the engine compartment and a special commemorative plaque on the interior center console. The paint color itself is the same “Silica Brass” color that marked the 2001 Skyline GT-R M-Spec (R34 Type). Fewer than 30 of these special GT-Rs are slated for the United States market.

Not feeling the silver trim on the grille (easily changed), and not at all fan of the tan interior (especially the steering wheel , probably much better in black), but otherwise
