Spied!
All-New Mitsubishi Eclipse
PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRENDA PRIDDY & COMPANY
August 2003
Here's the first picture of Mitsubishi's next Eclipse, codenamed PS24S. The new coupe looks to be larger, featuring many of Mitsubishi's latest styling cues. No word on whether or not the sporty Mitsu will continue to offer both four- and six-cylinder powerplants, or if it will return to turbocharged four-bangers.
The new Eclipse is based on the all-new Galant platform, and is expected to arrive late in the 2005 model year, or possibly for 2006.

My suggestion for the new Eclipse is give up the V6 engine and replace it with a turbocharged four cylinder. Come on Eclipse is supposed to be a pure sports car not a sporty coupe like CL. 250hp is the least for its top line model.

well, the price range is a little different and the Evo is for a more 'hardcore' market. I think the previous gen (w/ the turbo4cyl and/or awd) had more appeal to the high school crowd (than this gen), and sold well as a competitor to other compact imports.
Either way I'm not that excited about it

It might just be me, but I find it hard to get excited about anything made by Mitsubishi. They've started to make some interesting stuff now, but I've always lumped the mitsu auto division in w/ all the "also ran" car companies (Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki).
I guess that the Eclipse isn't a bad girls car

I totally agree with you guys... AWD & TURBO...
but they really butchered it up when they changed the BODY style from this one...
But thank goodness they did, because I would of never bought my CL-S if they did not change it...
Damn I miss my eclipse, it turned alot of heads...

Sketch of 4th generation Mistu Eclipse
By AUTOWEEK
Partial Eclipse
They’re not revealing details, but Mitsubishi’s North American arm is releasing this sketchy view (below) of the fourth-generation Eclipse due as a 2006 model. Mitsubishi promises more information in January when the Concept Eclipse show car debuts at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Whatever is represented by this sketch looks like an exotic. It also looks light. Combining the above with the Evo's powertrain and you suddently have something worthwhile.

The rear of the concept Eclipse can be found here. Though you need to copy and paste in a new/fresh window to see it. Do not right click and click on "Open in new window"

'Big Daddy Diggler'
the covered car looks a little bulky and high, hopefully they return to their roots and adopt the srt-4's turbo 4 banger and bring back all wheel drive. Subuaru has the WRX at 225 horses and affordable and the STI with 300 and expensive. Now mitsu can have the eclipse with awd and turbo at 230 hp and cheap with the evo pushing closer to 300 horses next year and being a little pricey.

The rear overall line does look like the one from the Concept E but other than that, I dont see anything spectacular here. It's also not very encouraging to see that there are long overhangs over the wheelbase. Not a good thing for a...sport/sporty car.
