Post 2017 Lamborghini Huracan Performante

Press release...

Automobili Lamborghini unveils the Huracán Perfomante at the Geneva Motor Show, combining new lightweight technologies, active aerodynamics with aero vectoring and a new set-up of chassis, all-wheel-drive system and further improved powertrain. The Huracán Performante is the result of Lamborghini innovations, producing a super sports car balanced between achieving the best lap times on a circuit with the most engaging and dynamic road driving. On 5 October 2016, the Huracán Performante set a new production car lap record of 6:52.01 min on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.

“The Huracán Performante is the convergence of technological developments to produce a car delivering perfect performance,” says Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stefano Domenicali. “This new car represents the powerhouse of Lamborghini DNA and innovation, and a 360 degree approach to creating class-leading super sports cars. It illustrates the pinnacle of Lamborghini V10 production car performance to date, on both track and road, and is perfectly exemplified by its name: Lamborghini Huracán Performante.”

Lightweight Engineering

Based on a hybrid aluminum and carbon fiber frame, the Huracán Performante’s body is produced from aluminum in conjunction with significant use throughout of Lamborghini’s award-winning Forged Composite. Using chopped carbon fibers in a resin, Forged Composite allows the creation of lightweight, complex geometrical shapes beyond that possible with traditional carbon fiber composite materials, while maintaining optimum stiffness.

The Performante features Forged Composite in structural components including front and rear spoiler, the engine bonnet, rear bumper and aerodynamic diffuser, contributing to the car’s weight reduction of 40 kg.

Active Aerodynamics - Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA)

The Huracán Performante adopts Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA): ALA is also the Italian word for wing. This patented active aerodynamic system developed by Lamborghini for the Huracán Performante provides an active variation of aero load for high down force or low drag.

The system is completely integrated into the vehicle in terms of design, weight and performance. The front spoiler integrates the electric motor of the front ALA system, built in a carbon forged frame with active flaps on the top exterior surface. The rear bonnet is designed around the air ducts to the rear wing as well as the wing pylons.

Lamborghini’s Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI) governs all the car’s electronic systems in ‘real time’ and is perfectly integrated with the ALA system, activating the ALA system flaps in less than 500 milliseconds to ensure the best aerodynamic set-up of the car in every driving condition.

When ALA is off, the active flaps inside the front spoiler are closed, generating the desired high downforce for high speed cornering and full brake conditions. When ALA switches to on the front flaps are opened by the front electric motor, reducing air pressure on the front spoiler and directing air flow via an inner channel and through the specially shaped underside of the car. This drastically reduces drag and optimizes conditions for maximum acceleration and top speed.

In the rear of the Performante four ducts are installed below the rear bonnet. The two central ducts are always open to allow underhood ventilation and exhaust cooling, while the two external ducts are connected to the inner channels of the rear wing. The air flow through the rear wing channels is controlled by two electro-actuated flaps. The entire system is 80% lighter than a traditional hydraulic system.

When ALA is off the rear flaps are closed, permitting the rear wing to act as a traditional fixed wing. Stability is enhanced in high speed cornering and full braking by creating maximum vertical downforce; 750% more than a Huracán coupé.

The LPI turns on the ALA in high throttle conditions, opening the rear flaps to allow air through the rear wing’s inner channels and directing air flow through ridges underneath the wing. This reduces drag and maximizes the car’s acceleration and top speed capabilities.

In addition, the rear wing’s inner air channel is split right and left, allowing aero vectoring for high speed cornering. Depending on the direction of the turn, the LPI instructs ALA to be switched on in either the right or left side of the spoiler, increasing downforce and traction on the inner wheel, counteracting the load transfer in rolling conditions. This in turn optimizes the chassis’ momentum, requiring a reduced steering angle and improving the car’s overall dynamic stability.

Design

The Huracán Performante contains the DNA of a true Lamborghini, with its design unmistakably describing and emphasizing the car’s purpose and inherent technologies, like a piece of technical art.

Reflecting the pure lines and performance of Lamborghini Super Trofeo race cars, the design also takes inspiration, particularly at the rear, from naked performance motorcycles, with their exposed frames and ‘streetfighter’ structures expressing function and performance.

Moreover, the design highlights the active aerodynamics (ALA) and lightweight build that are so integral to the car. Gloss, naked Forged Composite with its ability to be shaped or moulded in a single piece, is always used in ALA components, alongside matt and gloss black carbon fiber features contrasting with the matt body color: shown in a new matt orange (Arancio Anthaeus) on the Huracán Performante in Geneva.

The new front is sophisticated and razor-blade sharp like a race car, with the design of the air intakes and splitter giving the impression of incisors, reminiscent of a striking snake. The active aerodynamic front spoiler is clearly visible in Forged Composite. The front bumper has no grills emphasizing lightweight, efficiency and sportiveness.

The engine bonnet in Forged Composite emphasizes its lightweight construction. Air intakes are integrated in the engine bonnet to provide air flow to the rear wing inner ducts and cooling air to the engine, with a Plexiglas cover over the engine inside. The V10 power plant’s manifold cover in bronze, a finish used in other special edition engines, is a reminder of Lamborghini heritage as well as denoting the enhanced engine and increased power output.

The racing inspired and fascinating rear, features extensive carbon fiber, with Forged Composite components reinforcing the significance of active aerodynamics. The rear wing with integrated air ducts could only have been created in one piece using the Forged Composite technology.

The sportiness of the Performante’s design is exemplified by the high-mounted exhausts, similar to extreme sports motorcycles, which create a more direct physical connection with the engine. The rear diffuser in matt black is directly inspired by Lamborghini Super Trofeo race cars, in both appearance and function. A trapezoid line from the bottom of the diffuser, also in Forged Composite, emphasizes the width of the car’s rear: technical and sporty with an immense presence.

From the side, the design is characterized by the accelerating line of the rocker cover with air intakes in matt black, the Italian tricolore colors of the Performante’s Sant’Agata Bolognese birthplace on the doors, topped with wing mirrors in shiny black. The lightweight, Narvi 20” forged wheels, dedicated to the Huracán Performante, are painted in bronze.

Powertrain and performance

The enhanced naturally aspirated Huracán engine is the most powerful V10 produced to date by Lamborghini. Outputting 640 hp (470 kW) at 8,000 rpm and producing 600 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, it is distinguished by a new bronze manifold that draws on the heritage of previous special edition engines such as the Diablo 30th Anniversary power plant.

The Performante’s new powertrain draws on sophisticated technologies including developments from Lamborghini’s motorsports program. Engine fluid dynamics for both intake and exhaust have been optimized, as has the V10’s air intake system with reduced loss improving responsiveness. New titanium valves allow higher valve lifts to increase engine permeability and performance.

The exhaust system has been redesigned to achieve weight reduction and less back pressure. The exhaust pipes, positioned at a higher and more central position, deliver a more aggressive sound in high performance use, resonant of motor racing.

The car’s powerful engine produces an optimized torque curve, with more than 70% of torque already available at 1,000 rpm. Reflecting this, Lamborghini’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission has been also optimized in order to match the increased performance.

The Performante’s dry weight is just 1,382 kg, giving a weight to power ratio of 2.16 kg. Weight distribution front and rear is 43/57 %. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, the Huracán Performante is propelled from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and brakes from 100-0 km/h in 31 m.

Chassis and set-up

The Huracán Performante’s suspension system has been revised, reflecting the Performante’s purpose as a track and performance-oriented car. The suspension has been vertically stiffened by 10% over the Huracán coupé, via both springs and bars, and roll stiffness improved by 15%. The stiffness of the radial and axial arm bushings has been improved by 50%, significantly enhancing lateral control of the car.

The double wishbone system, front and rear, features passive dampers with optional magneto rheological suspension. Both systems, passive and active suspension, are designed to improve body and wheel control especially on track.

Electromechanical power steering is offered as standard with optional variable ratio Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS). Both the Huracán Performante’s electronic power steering and LDS have been significantly recalibrated to provide highly responsive steering with maximum driver feedback in all three driver modes: Strada, Sport and Corsa. In Corsa mode, designed for high performance and track environments, the steering offers a racing feeling with a significantly reduced steering ratio variation.

The permanent four-wheel drive system is tuned to maximize traction in all situations, working in conjunction with the ALA system and exploiting the new P Zero Corsa tires. ESC has been calibrated to smooth intervention and be less intrusive.

Lamborghini’s ANIMA system, controlling driver modes that customize the set-up of all the car’s systems, has also been revised to enhance the driving experience in each of the modes: Strada, Sport and Corsa. In Strada, traction and stability are prioritized. Sport offers a more rear-wheel drive orientation, with oversteer behavior and easier drifting. The Corsa driving mode is focused on top performance and handling to maximise results on track.

Wheels and Brakes

The Huracán Performante uses Lamborghini’s permanent four-wheel drive Haldex fifth generation system, fully electronically controlled, with rear mechanical self-locking differential.

The Huracán Performante sits on specifically designed bronze 20” Narvi forged rims. The 20” Loge forged rims with central lock are also available. The Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, developed specifically for the Huracán Performante, are designed to optimize road holding in both on and off ALA settings, in track conditions and also to provide optimum performance in normal road conditions. A high performance track tire, the Pirelli Trofeo R, with street homologation is also available for the Huracán Performante.

The Huracán Performante’s extraordinary acceleration and top speed are matched by the performance of its highly responsive braking system, providing smooth, continuous braking from its ventilated and cross-drilled carbon ceramic discs. An hydraulic dual-circuit system with vacuum brake servo unit has six-piston brake calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. The ABS also offers up drastically improved performance and pedal feedback to the driver via the P Zero Corsa tires.

Interior

The interior of the Huracán Performante reminds the driver of its lightweight and aerodynamic purpose. Air vents, paddles, door handles and the center console are created from Forged Composite. Referencing its racing heritage, lightweight, dark colored Alcantara fabric is used throughout, including on the sports seats where an optional ‘Y’ graphic can be lasered. Comfort seats with the same trim are available as an alternative.

Inside, the driver is fully in touch with the active aerodynamics’ activities: not only through the car’s performance, but from the special ALA graphic in the dashboard display which shows when and how ALA is working, including aero vectoring.

Inside the Huracán Performante, the new digital cockpit displays are configurable depending on driving mode selected: Strada, Sport or Corsa, with a display dedicated to the ALA detailing data on downforce and drag. The new cockpit layout supports Apple CarPlay and its iPhone apps including the Lamborghini telemetry system, which allows the driver to record, replay and study his own performance.

The Lamborghini Ad Personam Program enables the owner to personalize the Huracán Performante according to his individual taste.

Press release...

Six Lamborghini Huracán (All- and Rear-wheel-drive Coupés and Spyders), including the latest Performante, challenged the steep hairpin turns and switchbacks of one of the most spectacular and demanding roads in the world, the Transfăgărășan.

The Transfăgărășan passes through the land of Dracula in the Transylvania region of Romania, winding for 90 km. Open only from July to September, the road was built between 1970 and 1974 by order of dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu – it is also called Ceauşescu’s Folly – to allow Romanian troops to cross the Carpathian Mountains quickly in the event of a Soviet invasion.

The route climbs through the highest mountains of Romania, providing breathtaking views and rapid changes of landscape, passing from arid lands to verdant valleys.

The convoy departed from the city of Sibiu, passed through the village of Cartisoara and then twisted and turned rapidly on the numerous hairpin turns that cut through the Fagaras Mountains. The group of Lamborghinis then arrived at the highest point at Lake Balea and finally descended towards the impressive Vidraru dam, above which rise the ruins of the castle of Vlad III of Wallachia, who was the inspiration for author Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula character.

Lamborghini Introduces Huracán Super Trofeo EVO | Automobile Magazine

Lamborghini Introduces Huracán Super Trofeo EVO

A revised Super Trofeo and partnership with Roger Dubuis

By: Jonathon Klein September 20, 2017

Sant’Agata is back with a revised Super Trofeo Huracán called the EVO. Its nickname should be Vlad the Impaler because it looks like it’s going to put your head on a spike.

Based on the previous Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, the EVO designation comes from a heavily revised aerodynamic kit, as well as improved safety standards.

The new body kit was codeveloped with Dallara Engineering, the company that builds the IndyCar chassis, LMP2 chassis for Le Mans, DPi chassis for IMSA, KTM’s X-Bow, Alfa Romeo’s 4C, and the chassis for the Bugatti Chiron.

According to Lamborghini, the revised aerodynamic kit comes after the Italian marque was looking to maintain the Super Trofeo’s high-downforce but “achieve higher overall aerodynamic efficiency and so less resistance to forward travel with improved stability.”

And judging from the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO’s appearance, it looks like Lamborghini has achieved those goals.

The race-spec supercar is still powered by the same naturally aspirated V-10 engine, generating 620 horsepower, but now develops 3 percent more torque at top speed than the previous generation Super Trofeo. The engine is coupled to a six-gear sequential gearbox made by X-Trac and sends power to the rear wheels alone.

The new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO costs $295,000 here in the U.S. and will make its official track debut in spring 2018.

Customers who already run Huracán Super Trofeos won’t be left out though, as Lamborghini will offer the revised kit and upgrades as a separate package, although Lamborghini didn’t specify how much the update would cost.

Speaking to Sportscar365, Lamborghini’s head of motorsport Giorgio Sanna said, “Our customers are the main reason we continue in our pursuit of excellence and ongoing improvement. But with the EVO, we wanted to give our customers an even more thrilling experience at the wheel with superior performance and stability.”

Less roof, more noise: Lambo's wild V10 Performante is now open for summer

This is the new Lamborghini Huracán Performante Spyder. Yes, a Performante Spyder. Bit of a contradiction in terms, isn’t it, taking your most focused, track-honed supercar and then lopping the roof off? If you want to work on your tan and attract attention then surely the standard Huracán Spyder will do? Normally, yes, but such is the leap dymamically from the standard Huracán to the Performante, we’re prepared to let this one slide. Also, given the noise the Performante Coupe makes, there’s potential here for a serious ear-gasm.

All the important bits are still in place – a 5.2-litre V10 producing 631bhp at 8,000rpm and 442lb ft of torque at 6,500rpm driving all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The chassis is still a hybrid of aluminium and carbon-fibre, there’s still Lambo’s trick downforce-vectoring ALA rear wing, there’s still carbon-ceramic brakes as standard and 20-inch wheels wrapped in P Zero Corsas. But because it now has a foldable soft top, the head-splitting scream should be dialled up significantly.

Where the differences with the Coupe creep in is via the weight. At 1,507kg without fluids the Spyder is 125kg heavier, despite additional carbon fibre components cutting the standard Spyder’s weight by 35kg. More mass means less speed, although 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds (0.2 seconds slower than the Coupe), 0-124mph in 9.3 seconds (0.4 seconds down) and a 201mph top speed (1mph less) should be enough to keep your passenger pinned to their seat and turning a bit green.

“The Huracán Performante Spyder takes the zenith of Huracán developments, combined with the enhanced emotion of driving a convertible,” says Lambo boss Stefano Domenicali. It also costs a good chunk more – around £238,000 – which is £30,000 more than the Coupe.

So, worth the extra cash, or is this a Performante aimed purely at poseurs? Over to you.

Novitec x Vossen | Lamborghini Huracan Performante | NV1 Forged Wheel

Exclusive NOVITEC sports program for the new Lamborghini Huracán Performante

Making the best sports cars in the world even more individual, more exciting and more dynamic: that is the specialty of NOVITEC. The world’s leading refinement specialist for enhancing super sports cars now offers a sophisticated lineup of sports components for the new lightweight-design model from Lamborghini, the Huracán Performante.

This includes tailor-made aerodynamic-enhancement components fine-tuned in the wind tunnel. They are made from the same innovative Forged Composites® material as the production carbon-fiber components on the bodywork.

The new NOVITEC NV1 forged wheels are likewise trimmed for low weight. Thanks to their combination of 20 and 21-inch wheels on the front and rear axle, they put even more emphasis on the wedge shape of the two-seater. These hi-tech wheels are optionally also available with center lock.

The NOVITEC sports springs make the handling even more agile and are calibrated specifically to this wheel and tire combination.

Sound and optimized performance are the outstanding advantages of the NOVITEC RACE high-performance exhaust system, which is available made from stainless steel and optionally made from extra-light INCONEL.

NOVITEC also creates exclusive interior appointments from the finest leather and Alcantara in practically any desired color to customer order.

The new Huracán Performante highlights its sporty focus with a host of carbon touches on the bodywork already ex-factory. The NOVITEC designers specialize not only in giving the world’s most exclusive sports cars even more thrilling looks, but also in further optimizing their aerodynamic efficiency.

The designers followed this tried and proven recipe on the new Lamborghini lightweight-design model as well. They went into the wind tunnel to develop additional bodywork components that further optimize the aerodynamics and give the mid-engine sports car even more of a racecar appearance. The NOVITEC add-on parts are manufactured from the same Forged Composites® carbon fiber as the production components on the Performante. As a result, the new components sport that same special look, which is more reminiscent of marble than of carbon.

The front fascia is further enhanced with attachments on the left and right, and a further protruding central spoiler blade. These components lend the Lamborghini an even sportier appearance and further reduce front-axle lift at high speeds at the same time.

In addition, the Performante can be fitted with the NOVITEC trunk hood with integrated air ducts on the left and right. This sophisticated routing of the relative wind provided by the hood is also a factor in giving the Huracán even higher directional stability at high speeds. In addition, gill-shaped Forged Composites® attachments on the front wheel arches can lend the face of the Lamborghini even more of a sporty look.

The NOVITEC rocker panels add further profile to the sides of the ten-cylinder sports car. They give the Huracán an even lower and longer visual stance, and thanks to their enlarged air intakes, they optimize the supply of cooling air to the rear brakes. The use of Forged Composites® material for these components and for the mirror covers further emphasizes the racing looks.

The same material is also used extensively at the rear end: NOVITEC attachments on the left and right of the large rear airfoil give it a more pronounced wing profile. This further increases downforce at the rear axle in concert with the add-on parts for the production diffuser, which were optimized in the wind tunnel.

The NOVITEC designers also fine-tuned the engine hood: Two hood scoops direct more breathing air to the engine and provide even more thrilling looks as well.

The spectacular NOVITEC looks for the Performante also include tailor-made hi-tech rims, of course. The NOVITEC NV1 wheels for the Lamborghini were developed in cooperation with American manufacturer Vossen and are produced using state-of-the-art forging technology.

Because the Huracán Performante is optionally also available with center lock wheels, the one-piece NOVITEC NV1 forged wheels are likewise available with a choice of conventional five-bolt pattern or center lock. The NOVITEC NV1 design fascinates with six delicate spokes that taper off towards the outer wheel flange in a widely spread Y, thereby making the wheel seem extremely large.

The combination of 20 and 21-inch wheels on the front and rear axle puts even more emphasis on the wedge shape of the Italian sports car. The front axle is fitted with 245/30 ZR 20 Pirelli P-Zero high-performance tires on 9Jx20 wheels. The rear axle sports tires of size 325/25 ZR 21 on 12.5Jx21 rims.

The NOVITEC sports springs lower the ride height of the Performante by another 35 millimeters and offer further enhanced sporty handling.

Engine tuning for the sportiest version of the Huracán model series is currently still under development. However, already available are the NOVITEC RACE sport exhaust systems. These high-performance exhaust systems are made from stainless steel or optionally from the even lighter material INCONEL, which is used in Formula 1 racing. As a result, the NOVITEC high-performance systems optimize the performance of the V10 engine and produce an extremely sporty exhaust note at the same time.

Of course, NOVITEC also fulfills the most individual customer requests in the cockpit. The company creates sublime interiors from the finest leather and alcantara in any desired color, finished with consummate workmanship in every detail.

Post Huracán Sterrato Concept

From here: https://www.supercars.net/blog/the-h...only-imagined/

Based on the Huracán EVO, the Huracán Sterrato Concept is the off-road vehicle that you only see in dreams, movies, and children’s drawings. There have been some wild ideas for concept off-roaders, but the fact that Lamborghini decided to actually build a concept car is amazing.

The Sterrato Concept still has most of the Huracán EVO’s bits, including the 5.2-liter V10 that makes 640 hp. The drive systems have been recalibrated to handle the rigors of off-road terrain. The vehicle has all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering and torque vectoring.

The car sits up only 0.3 inches higher, so it’s more of a desert sand-slinger rather than a rock-crawler. Approach and departure angles were improved and the decks widened by 1.18 inches. The car receives 20-inch wheels wrapped in off-road rubber. The car gets some added underbody protection and exterior enhancements to protect it from the elements. It gets stone-deflecting protection around the engine and air intakes. There are also various LED lighting additions include a large light bar and LEDs added to the bumper.

While this might not be the typical Lamborghini, it sure is interesting. Who needs a Urus when you can have this? Oh, right. You can’t have this because it’s a concept, but you know Lambo would sell them if you could.

From here: https://www.supercars.net/blog/lambo...t-in-monterey/

The new Huracan EVO GT was revealed at The Quail in Monterey, California, in addition to the 63 edition of the Aventador SVJ Roadster. The EVO GT celebrates the success of the company at the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. The car is inspired by the Huracan GT3 Evo, which was raced at both of the events.

The special edition car is part of Lamborghini’s Ad Personum program. The model debuted at The Quail was shown in a Verde Egeria green and Arancio Aten orange paint job. Lamborghini says there are a total of nine different design possibilities customer can choose from.

Customers can personalize the exterior of the car further if they wish by adding things like the Lamborghini Squadra Corse shield, according to GTSpirit. Inside, the car features Alcantara throughout much of the cabin. There’s also some contrast stitching that matches the exterior of the car.

When it comes to the mechanicals of the car, the Huracan EVO GT features the same powertrain as the regular Huracan EVO. The car offers a 5.2-liter V10 engine that’s good for 640 hp and about 443 lb-ft of torque. This car is available exclusively for the U.S. We did not see a mention of how many would be produced.

Automobili Lamborghini announced the Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD): a visceral driving machine, delivering 610 hp (449 kW) of power at 8,000 rpm and 560 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm to a lightweight car with rear-wheel drive and dynamic steering for maximum driving fun. Weighing just 1,389 kg, the Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD has a top speed of 325 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. Despite its top-figure capabilities, the Huracán EVO RWD is not focused on straight-line speeds or lap records: with a unique new design, the Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD proclaims its designation as an instinctive driver's car.

"The Huracán EVO rear-wheel drive puts the car in the driver's hands: the driving experience is delivered by the hardware," says Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. "This car reminds the driver of Lamborghini's pure engineering origins: the driver is at the center of the Huracán EVO RWD's performance, with unfiltered feedback and an emotive and more engaging driving experience controlled by the pilot. The Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD performance relies on the harmony between man and machine: driving skills and the Huracán EVO's RWD mechanics deliver perfectly balanced dynamics, physical feedback and a pure performance. The Huracán EVO RWD enhances the V10 Huracán line-up with a model appealing to brand newcomers as well as those seeking sublime driving fun."

Automobili Lamborghini presented the Lamborghini Huracán STO - Super Trofeo Omologata: a road-homologated super sports car inspired by the racing heritage of Lamborghini Squadra Corse's one-make race series with Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, as well as its three-time 24 Hours of Daytona-winning and two-time 12 Hours of Sebring-winning Huracán GT3 EVO.

With its V10 naturally aspirated 640 hp (470 kW) power plant producing 565 Nm at 6,500 rpm, the rear-wheel drive Huracán STO delivers exhilarating acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 9.0 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h. However, its heart beats with the exhilaration and emotion of a racecar. Superior aerodynamic efficiency, extensive use of lightweight materials, unfettered steering and first-class braking performance, ensure the Huracán STO delivers the emotion of a track experience on every road drive.

"The Huracán STO is the purest incarnation of Lamborghini Squadra Corse heritage, directly transferring technologies from the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO and drawing on the Huracán GT3 EVO's unique accomplishment of winning three consecutive times in the Daytona 24 hours," said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO, Stefano Domenicali. Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer added: "The Huracán STO delivers all the excitement of a beautifully balanced, lightweight and aerodynamically superior super sports car, mirroring the driving feeling and exhilaration of Super Trofeo, and perfectly set up for the world's most demanding tracks but created for the road. The extensive technical solutions and intelligence gained from both our Super Trofeo and GT3 programs has been refined and embodied in the Huracán STO, allowing the pilot to experience the emotions of a racing driver, daily, in a road-legal Lamborghini super sports car able to take lap records."

Why are these super track focused cars becoming the next big thing? They are totally pointless and make for terrible road cars.

We aren't the clientele for these.

They wouldn't make them if they didn't sell.

Oh I'm sure it'll sell, just wondering why the next big craze is track cars. Seems like everyone and their mother is releasing them by the dozens.

https://carbuzz.com/news/heres-your-...an-jv-stradale

Last month, we got confirmation that Lamborghini is far from done with the aging Huracan supercar and the Urus SUV. These models helped the Italian automaker to achieve a record-setting year of sales in 2021, so it makes sense to get the most out of them before electrification forces a total redesign. Two new Urus and two new Huracan models are on the way, and we just got spy shots of one of these, namely the production version of the off-road biased Huracan Sterrato. It's an exciting reinvention of the mid-engine supercar, but the one we're even more interested in is the one you see here. Rumored to be called the JV Stradale, this is sure to be something special

According to the grapevine, the JV Stradale is to be a pared-back, more restrained version of the extreme
Huracan STO. Our first spy shots of the new car show that the cofango single-piece clamshell front end of the STO will likely be too much for this subtler version. The wraparound rear wing appears to be an STO-only feature too, with this test mule wearing what looks like the wing from the Huracan Performante. As the below images reveal, the wing isn't carrying over unchanged from that model and has received an additional flap on the trailing edge. Clearly, Lamborghini isn't leaving well enough alone and will be making something truly special here, but it appears that the Performante's diffuser is efficient enough for the new model's requirements

Another detail to note is that, while the Performante and STO models both ride on center-lock wheels, this prototype does not. Of course, that may yet change for the production model. We can confirm from these images that carbon-ceramic brakes will be offered and the spectacular 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 - one of the world's very last on the market - will once again feature. Sadly, we have no clue as to power ratings or performance claims, but if Sant'Agata is obsessing over the details this much, you can bet that the JV Stradale, if that is indeed its name, will be worth the wait and the inevitably extraordinary price. Get those lucky numbers lined up, burn sage, toss salt - do whatever you can to increase your chances of owning one of the very last naturally aspirated, V10-powered Lambos. They won't be coming around again

https://www.carscoops.com/2022/02/la...-unacceptable/

Last year, Lamborghini found that 4,796 Huracans were sold without blanking caps over their headlight adjustment screws. Today, the NHTSA has announced that all of those vehicles are subject to a recall that will see the caps installed. Owners will, of course, receive the new parts at no cost.

At the heart of the recall is human error, says Lamborghini which uncovered the error itself during a routine internal audit back in early 2020. On February 26th, 2020, they officially determined that the absence of the blanking caps over the headlight’s horizontal adjustment screw wasn’t in compliance with a Federal Safety Standard.

On March 4th of 2020, they notified the NHTSA of the issue, and later that same month they applied for a petition for “Inconsequential Noncompliance”. Now, nearly two full years later, the NHTSA has finally ruled on that petition. Their decision to deny it led to the recall itself.

They argue that without the caps in place ” The horizontal aim adjustment of the subject beams is possible due to the absence of a blanking cap over the beam horizontal adjustment screw. The customers can reach the horizontal adjustment screw and make the horizontal adjustment by themselves.”

If this sounds strange to you don’t worry, it does sound a bit odd considering that most vehicles allow for headlight adjustment. In the case of the Huracan, that beam is supposed to be set by the factory and then left alone though.

The actual statute from the NHTSA says ” S10.18.9.2 Horizontal aim, lower beam. There is no adjustment of horizontal aim unless the headlamp is equipped with a horizontal VHAD. If the headlamp has a VHAD, it is set to zero.” VHAD is short for “Vehicle headlamp aiming device” and since the Hurcan has no such technology, access to the vertical aiming screw wasn’t supposed to be accessible to customers it seems.

To further clarify the danger, the NHTSA describes the safety risk as ” Improper horizontal aim may result in glare to other motorists/road users, reduced visibility on one of the sides of the road, and reduced down-road visibility. Increasing the risk of a crash.” So if you have a Huracan get ready to take it into the shop so that they can cap off your headlight adjustment screws.

Such a non-issue.
<1% of Lamborghini owners will likely ever touch the headlight adjuster.

Also, I can't recall any of my prior cars having a cover over the adjustment screws, but I also don't recall any having horizontal adjustment, just vertical.
