Question Report: 400HP and 450HP Versions

Infiniti used the recent Detroit Auto Show to preview its next-generation Q60 coupe with this thinly-veiled concept version. However, apart from its stunning design, few details about the new Q60 were actually divulged.

We know the car’s launch has been pushed back to sometime in 2016, and that the vehicle will be a couple of inches longer than the BMW 4-Series, one of its main intended rivals. We also know that the new Q60 will feature aluminum construction and come powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 paired with a paddle-shifted, seven-speed automatic transmission.

Now, some of engine’s specs have emerged by way of a report from Autoguide. According to information sourced from an anonymous Infiniti representative, the new Q60 will be launched on the market with two horsepower ratings: an entry-level model is said to offer around 400 hp and a more potent model will reportedly offer close to 450 hp. It should be noted that these figures are comparable with the outputs of dedicated performance models from rival brands, such as the BMW M4 (425 hp), Cadillac ATS-V (455 hp) and Lexus RC F (467 hp), so take this info with a grain of salt.

As for a potential dedicated performance version of the Q60, the source said no decision had been made about Infiniti reviving its its IPL performance label for the new Q60. And as recently reported, a senior Infiniti exec also said the company hasn’t made a decision on using the Eau Rouge name for any performance offerings.

Probably won't hear much about it till the auto shows next year since the focus is going to be on getting Q30 and/or QX30 to market by the end of this year. Keeping my eyes peeled on the dealer portal to find out more......even though I work for a new company.

You don't work for Infiniti anymore?

Or you work for a different dealer?

It's been good so far. It's much more in-line with my degree since I just graduated with my bachelor's. Like my signature says, I ended up getting the Q50S back in April so I've been enjoying the driving. But at the end of my lease I'm either going to have to use these mileage checks to pay off my over-mileage or as a down payment to finance the payoff . Tried to keep mileage off since I had to go to our corporate offices in Massachusetts for two months of training, but it's already caught up with me.

Still staying in touch with people at the dealership so when anything new comes out I can go swing by and gather some impressions about them. The dealer was nice since it was so close and it was fun for my last year in college, but it wouldn't have been a choice career for me.

I think the door looks too small for the body.

Something looks off

But glad they kept the G35/G37 rear look.

This is pure speculation but since the renaming (rebranding) by Johan de Nysschen (remember: the bastard that changed all the car names in the Infiniti line up only to leave his post for Cadillac). And since the collaboration with Mercedes, Infiniti is posturing to go from a "near-luxury" brand to a "full-luxury" brand (ala Lexus). In addition to that, all of their vehicle prices have increased over the years to match their ambitions. With all that being said, I suspect that a fully loaded G.... I mean Q60 would around $55K. The current S model is already $50K. We'll see. I think I'll keep my G for now.

I saw the same thing you did, from the side. From the back it looks like Mercedes design language. The front looks true to form though. I'm on the fence about the design, but I felt the same way about the G37, and winded up getting one after the new design grew on me.

Considering the performance and how much a full load 435 cost... $55k is not a bad price.

But they better make sure there is enough exterior differentiation from the 30k 4 banger and the V6 TT at 55k!

with Q50.... I would not be too surprised if they look identical other than a badge.

I can't tell the difference between the Q50S and the non S. other than wheels of course.

Any chance it'll still be available with a 6mt?

If so, I think I found my next car.

if i recall correctly, they went back to the hydraulic steering on certain trim.

I think it was the Non Hybrid Sport trim.

i daily drive an EPS kia and it's pretty fucking accurate.
point the steering wheel in a direction and it will do it, accurately.

more accurate than my hydraulic power steering in my fwd acura......

if the kia had a little more feedback to it, it would be fucking perfect and I wouldnt miss a machine assisted powersteering unit at all.

I'm really liking this redesign. Pricing for fully loaded till probably be $55k-$58k since a fully loaded 3.7 Q50S is about $54k without accessories, and going Hybrid brings it to $56k. For all the crap people give DAS, I genuinely like it in my Q50. Don't want heavy steering that can be annoying on the highway? Make it lighter. Want fast steering for backroads? Put it in sport and enjoy that kind of steering, the sport programming and DRM - I know I did going to a customer site once. Like I said above, my Q50 is going to have so many miles that it'll be painful to return the lease, so I'll keep my VQ37 2015 for a while so the new turbo engines can get more proven and decide if I value the look of the coupe more than I like driving a sedan.

The problem with most if not all EPS is the feedback. It feels disconnected.

my new 435's steering feels significantly better than the 2013 335i. It is more weighted but still feels "Fake"

right now Q60 Sport Limited RWD (top q60) is 59k on their website with taxes and all. AWD model is a few thousand more. This new one is gonna be 70k+ Canadian for sure. Well that sucks.

Q50S AWD fully loaded is 54k, that's not that bad.
