'Avante' sounds Italian.
'Elantra' is more like Greek.

pretty good lookin' car. the side profile looks good. i myself would opt for a Civic, Mazda 3, or next-gen Sentra, Corolla, but this should sell well

also; if only all Hyundais followed this one's interior cues.

That's actually a really nice interior for a $14K car.

From Autoblog...

Our friends abroad know it as the Hyundai i30, but here in the States it shall be known as the Elantra Touring. It originally debuted in Geneva wearing i30 badges and last month it got its unceremonious North American unveiling at the Montreal International Auto Show.

The Elantra Touring marks Hyundai's return to the compact five-door segment after it nixed the Elantra GT a few years back, and it comes equipped with all the kit you'd expect in a budget runabout. Power is provided by a 2.0-liter four equipped with either a four-speed automatic with SHIFTRONIC or a five-speed manual with a B&M Racing sport shifter. A sports suspension and quicker steering rack supposedly make it an entertaining steer, and Electronic Stability Control, ABS and Electronic Brake-Force Distribution ensure things don't get out of hand. Inside, you can option things up with heated front seats and a power sunroof, but the Elantra Touring already comes packing powered windows, remote keyless entry, eight-way adjustable driver's seat and a stereo equipped with an auxiliary jack and standard XM radio.

Early look: 2009 Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai has released images of its updated Elantra sedan ahead of the car's Beijing Motor Show debut. The Chinese market Elantra sedan will feature new styling — both front and rear — that brings the Elantra's styling more inline with the Hyundai i30 and Elantra Touring.

The updated Elantra will feature a new front fascia, including new headlights, grille and bumper. Outback, the refreshed sedan sports new taillights, bumper and a revised truck.

The Elantra's interior should carry on relatively unchanged.

Despite the rather handsome changes to the Elantra sedan, Hyundai has yet to announce if the China-spec car will make it to the U.S. However, it seems like almost a certainty that the Korean automaker will bring the updated car to the U.S.

They got all kindsa sh#t.... Acura RL (don't know what they call it in Korea, I think it's Honda.... something ), Honda Accord, Infiniti G35/G37, M45, Q45, Lexus IS250/350, Lexus SC430, etc etc etc. They even had Infiniti J30/J30t back in the 90's. My aunt saw one on the road in Korea about 10 years ago. They even import stuff Americans can't get.... Korea even imports Peugeot cars from europe. You want to see all kinds of cars all over the world you need to come to Korea.

Why does the title of this post say "Hyundai: Elantra news **Elantra Touring announced (page 3)" when there is no page 3?

It would have been page 3 a month or so ago (AZ went from 25 posts/page to 40 posts/page)

No one has the time to change every single thread title or so I'd think

Cool Investigation

NHTSA Ramps Up Hyundai Elantra Investigation
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that it is ramping up its investigation of Hyundai’s Elantra sedan. The NHTSA has now received more than 500 complaints of air bag malfunctions in 2001-2002 Elantra models.

The NHTSA has discovered that the air bag malfunctions could be the result of poorly placed cup holders. According to Automotive News, the Elantra’s air bag sensor is close to the vehicle’s cup holders, which could be allowing liquids to spill into the module. However, the Elantra’s wiring is also being investigated.

Both Hyundai and the NHTSA have collected 22 crash complaints, 15 of which have resulted in injury. The NHTSA is also looking into two fatal crashes where air bag malfunctions are suspected.

Hyundai says it has received 9,100 warranty claims which could be related to the defect. If a recall is issued, 150,000 vehicles could be involved.

In a separate investigation, the NHTSA is also looking into engine stalling complaints on Hyundai’s 2007-2008 Elantra. The NHTSA has received four complaints, one of which resulted in a crash with injuries. A faulty fuel pump is believed to be the culprit. About 167,000 2007-2008 Elantras are on the road today.

I don't care if it's an $80,000 car or a $13,000 car: Vertical HVAC vents ALWAYS look cheap to me. I'm not sure exactly what it is about them, but I'm never fond of that look. Seriously, replace them with regular, ole horizontal vents and the interior would look completely different to me....better.

I don't think they look cheap, but there is definitely something aesthetically unappealing about them.
