Honda recalls 561,594 vehicles
Autos are recalled to replace a faulty engine part
The Associated Press
Updated: 8:17 a.m. ET June 14, 2006
TOKYO - Honda Motor Co. is recalling over 561,000 vehicles in three models to replace a faulty part used in starting an engine, a company official said Wednesday.
Subject to the recall are 217,953 Odyssey minivans, 141,652 CR-V sport-utility models and 123,580 Step Wagon minivans, said Honda spokeswoman Yu Kimoto.
The three models involved were produced between Oct. 3, 1994, and May 15, 1997.
Of the total, a combined 78,409 vehicles were exported abroad, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Thailand and European countries, Kimoto said.
The vehicle’s engine can suddenly stop because some of its parts can be damaged by heat if used repeatedly over time. There were five cases of drivers getting minor burns after the solder used in the defective parts melted and fell onto their feet, Kimoto said.

They have to recall the cars?!?!? Why not just mail out addendums to the owners manuals?

From other sources, I don't think it's a recall...they're just sending out replacement pages for owners to stick in their manuals.

I don't know what to think of this. I like my Acura very, very much, and I hate to let some greedy lawyer out there to make a killing out of this. I guess it's just my loyalty...

Honda recalls 353K Accord sedans over windshield wiper motor
Wednesday April 16, 1:05 pm ET
Honda recalling 353,000 Accord sedans over corrosion in the windshield wiper motor
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Honda Motor Co. is recalling 353,000 Accord sedans over possible corrosion in the windshield wiper motor.
Honda said Wednesday the recall involves Accords from the 2003 model year. The automaker says water could enter an area near the windshield wiper motor and cause corrosion.
The corrosion could cause the electrical circuit breaker inside the motor area to fail and could prevent the motor from working, potentially leading to a crash.
No injuries or crashes have been attributed to the wiper problem.
Dealers will inspect the windshield wiper motor and install a cover over the motor if no signs of corrosion are present. If there is corrosion, they will replace the motor.
Owners may contact Honda at (800) 999-1009.

True. Does anyone have any idea why it would only be the sedans and not include the coupes? I have an 03 coupe so I'm just wondering why it's only the 4 doors.

Honda: Recall for Defective Airbag System
The automaker expands a previously announced recall due to a potentially lethal defect in the airbag's inflation system.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Honda Motor Co. said Friday it widened a previously announced recall to add 440,000 cars that could have a lethal airbag defect.
Affected models include the 2001-2002 Honda Accord, 2001 Civic and 2002-2003 Acura TL.
The potential defect has caused 6 known injuries and one known death, according to Honda spokesman Chris Naughton.
The recall will require the driver's side steering-wheel-mounted airbag inflator to be replaced.
In some cars, the airbag inflators may over-pressurize the inflator mechanism as the airbag is deploying, which could cause the inflator casing to rupture, according to Honda. As a result the carmaker said, "Metal fragments could pass through the cloth airbag cushion material, possibly causing an injury or fatality to vehicle occupants."
Registered owners of the vehicles in question will receive a recall notice in the mail in the next few months to schedule a repair. Honda said the owners of cars most likely to have a problem will be contacted first.
In the meantime, Honda owners can log onto the Web site www.owners.honda.com/recalls and click on the "Owner Link" to get a status of their recall. Acura owners should go to www.owners.acura.com/recalls and click on the "My Acura" link.
