This may be the greatest American car ever built...

...and yet it won't matter because of that excessive price tag.

^ True. The relatively new CEO needs something to brag about. So far for him, pickup trucks and 4-bangers are hardly ever conversation starters at the yacht club LOL.

The race car version was caught testing not far from where I live (wish I knew!). Bad video but... downshifts sound like gunshots! Note that the carbon tub is made in Canada by Multimatic, so they are using local tracks in Ontario to test things.

Crunk up the volume. Does it sound like something hitting 9-10k RPM?

It is entirely possible that the NSX was put on hold because the new management realized its already obsolete. It only takes one journalist to throw a video on youtube, comparing it to an other super car and then its game over. It is very hard to control the marketing message these days with all kinds of loose cannons out there. Moreover, people still remember the original NSX and times have indeed changed. So, chances are the NSX will be re-re-re-introduced with a lot more pizzazz than what they have shown us so far. If they don't, well, it will take one 911 to kill it!!

The GT, on the other hand, is heading to Le Mans. Instant validation.

I agree. Acura must be turning into one of those companies where there is so much red tape that even going to the bathroom would require a sign off.

This would mark the second time this car was delayed for that reason. The twin turbo V6 was a later addition. The first NSX prototype lacked the turbos.

Ford GT to have Gorilla Glass to reduce weight

http://www.theverge.com/2015/12/15/1...-gorilla-glass

The new Ford GT supercar will be full of fancy technology. A twin-turbo engine. Carbon fiber everything. And, thanks to a partnership with Corning, a windshield built with Gorilla Glass, the same tech that's used to keep your smartphone screen intact (unless you drop it on concrete).

The special multilayered hybrid windshield (combining multiple types of glass) will be used on both the windshield and rear engine cover on the GT, for both increased lightness — very important in a track-focused supercar — and a tougher, more scratch-resistant window. Layered glass is also used to make windshields shatter-resistant, so that glass doesn't go everywhere in a crash.

For the Ford GT, triple-layered glass is the trick: one part toughened automotive grade hybrid glass as an inner layer; an "advanced noise-absorbing thermoplastic interlayer" in the middle, and an annealed outer glass layer. What's it all mean? Glass that's 32 percent lighter than in similar cars, while being more resistant to damage thanks to Corning's advanced glassmaking tech.

It's 25 to 50 percent thinner, at just 3 to 4 millimeters, and at least as strong as traditional laminate glass. Like many technologies that start in supercars and make their way to more affordable vehicles — paddle shifters and carbon fiber parts, for instance — we could see this Gorilla Glass in more affordable cars, as Ford and Corning work to bring the costs down.

Just don't drop your Ford GT onto concrete.

I think the original timeline that they made was already very tight. Showed concept in 2012, and said it will be out by 2015. On top of that, they changed the powertrain midway through, that gotta add a lot of time.

I'm surprised they have pre-production models for journalists to test already.

My understanding is that Honda is making adjustments based on the feedback from the journalists, and a lot of these are software changes. For instance, the IDS thing has 4 profiles, quiet/sport/sport+/race. They might change the system so that power and damper settings can be adjusted independently. Also, they may still make more changes to the interior such as improvement design and quality, the ability to adjust seat height, etc.

Yup, I'm well aware of that...lol...it just seems odd you know....I mean people have been biatching how the NSX at $150k only has a V6, and will get the R8 because it has a V10.....

So it begs the purchase question:

1 GT

or

2 NSX's

or

20 Accord Sports!

Good point, I suppose. Still odd, since a lot of the others you've posted didn't get the same.
Unless there's some different DOT regulations where it's going & they have to be replaced.

How many of these is ford intending on selling? I find it hard to believe they will jump to 1.5M in value right after delivery, unless ford is building only 3 of them
