How do you know? There isn't a build feature yet or a pricing list.

I wonder how auto start/stop works on a manual car? I know in an automatic the engine kicks back on when you let off the brake, but on a manual would it be the same? Because usually you have to accelerate immediately when coming off the brake to prevent rolling back on uneven terrain, so if it takes a second or two for the engine to restart it might be problematic. Let's at least hope there's an option to disable it. Plus I want to rev in neutral!

It will have everything. Even heated steering wheel and backup camera which my ST does not have.

You can get forged wheels as an option. Can also get them mounted on Michelin Cup 2 Track Summer Tires as another option.

Well, I think my car shopping is done. Just have to wait.

I'd imagine the Focus RS has hill start assist or brake hold, so you probably won't roll back.

Also, the engine will only stops if your car is stopped, and you press clutch, move gear lever to neutral, and release clutch.

The engine will be restarted as soon as you press the clutch again, before you put it in gear. Also, it will start if there are other loads, like AC.

A loaded Focus RS is the same price (essentially) as a loaded Mustang GT Performance Pack. I wonder if the car shoppers are different enough to sell both side-by-side.

Also pretty closely priced to an STi, so there would likely be some cross shopping there as well.

The RS will have HSA, just like the ST does. But I turned that off after a couple of months. I didn't like the brake hold for a couple of seconds before I could accelerate. It's just much easier without it.

But I guess the auto start/stop makes sense then. I just hope there is an option to disable it.

Ah, I see now. I didn't know to click "hatch" on the left side.

I'm still up in the air about color - either Stealth Gray or Nitrous Blue. I like the blue accents of the badges and calipers on the gray, and how the gray doesn't stand out like a sore thumb, but the Nitrous Blue does scream "sporty" and looks good. I just don't know if it's too much blue for me.

Only $1395 for 19" forged wheels seems like a pretty good deal. And only $1990 to have them on the Cup Sport 2 tires? But I like how the OEM tires are the Michelin PSS. I think I like the regular 19" wheels better anyway. Not really a fan of black wheels.

So $40,285 loaded the way I want. That's not really that bad at all. Let's hope my ST can retain its value well until I'm ready to purchase.

Apple vs Orange. Both will sell well.

Yep.

FoRS vs Golf R vs STi.

Most of the cars with auto start/stop has an option to disable that funciton. I'd think the RS has that too.

Can appreciate pony cars for what they are and the stang is sweet, but I'd never grow a mullet and buy one.

The RS is definitely in my wheelhouse, can't wait to drift one around the corner next winter.

Honestly Fib, the Ecoboost Mustang is far more like a 428i or A5 than a normal Muatang. Especially with the Recaros and better interior trim. I have fallen in love with mine. It has everything an A5 would have and was $17K less. I would encourage you to drive one even if you don't buy it.

Ecoboost Mustang almost sounds heretical to me and admittedly have only driven the new 5.0 with the ball shifter which is quite tasty. Alas, being the family guy its pretty much a given that I need 4 doors and you can't beat the versatility of a hatch.

I saw a 428 in profile going through an intersection yesterday and was thinking how ridiculously similar it looks to a mustang.

I agree with you completely as well. Loaded up those mustangs are very very nice. The differences are more brand whoring IMO

Yes, spend those several extra 1000s on getting that AWD system and extra horsepower, so you can barely drive the car like it is intended to be driven

That AWD and extra HP will work with the improved suspension geometry nicely.

Only thing about hella flush-ing it is that the bolt pattern for the Focus/Fiesta is we todd id.

That said, I got the chance to spend four hours driving a FoST. That was a very, very pleasant DD and really fun to drive. I have a lot of confidence that the FoRS will be amazing.

Not a Ford guy but I am very glad the RS is finally coming here, what a machine. My only gripe are those big amorphous tail lights, I like the older Euro version's rear end personally. Not a deal breaker though.

They look better in person and the 2016s are actually smaller than my 2013 Focus ST's tail lights.

Wow. I just priced out an RS, here in Canada.

I'd have to have some serious head trauma to pay 51k for a Focus. I wonder how Ford intends on selling

I'm sure they'll sell them all. I bet this car is hard to get in any market for the first year or so.

So...we should all go to Canada to buy this thing? That's $2k cheaper than a comparable US model.

Well of course. Not many people would spend that much on a Focus, regardless of what's under the hood. I wonder how many they do plan to sell though. I honestly thought it was going to be about 10k cheaper here. Boy, was I ever wrong, lol.

Yea...a fully loaded manual Golf R with special paint is CAD$42.5k before taxes...as opposed to CAD$47k for the FoRS. Impreza WRX STi Sport tech is $45k.

No way.

A fully loaded Golf R is ~$30kUSD in Canada? I call BS otherwise we'd all be driving up there to get one.

Basically what you're telling me is that the STi and Golf R are $10k USD cheaper in Canadia than they are south of the border?

They've already sold 3700 in the US alone through pre-orders...

The RS isn't for everyone. Someone walking into a show room looking for a Focus SE isn't going to walk out with an RS. Even someone going in looking for an ST isn't going walk out with an RS.

If you're going to buy the RS, you know what you want and why it costs so much.

lol yes man....the CAD dropped rapidly in the past half a year or so. Manufacturers can't just jack up the price by 20% that quickly.

For instance, you can get a Civic Touring for CAD$27k, which is equivalent to $18.9k USD. That's pretty much the starting price for a Civic LX in the US...lol!

The way I have mine priced out, it's $40,285 USD.

$35,730
+ $895 for Power Moonroof
+ $2,785 for RS2 Package
+ $875 destination charge
= $40,285

It's a lot of money, but it's a lot of car. Over $10k more expensive than my ST...

Unless I was clicking something wrong, there appears to be no options for the RS in Canada. It looks like it comes fully loaded from the factory and that's it.

I also found it interesting that on Ford.ca, there is no Focus ST anymore.
