I'm beginning to wonder if Enzo owners are picked because Ferrari thinks they're truly "special," or if they're just selected because they're potential Darwin award winners.

I wonder how many of these exotic car owners actually have ANY experience with driving at high speeds in these machines

I wish they'd require them to take special driving lessons in order to purcahse and drive them. hell don't they do that for big rigs, why not for these cars.

The female passenger told the media that the accident was caused by a pedestrian who ran across the street in front of the car and the driver had to swerve to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

I thought they had Ferrari training school lessons that you get with the car or something.... or maybe it was just something that you choose to go, but yeah, I think it should be mandatory. Ferrari pick its owners anyway, why not send them to training.

Some really interestingly huge forces must have been attained on the car for it to be cut right in the middle like this photo shows. Major speeds involved probably?

Painful to watch and carbon fiber plus concrete is a very bad thing.

Cool Ferrari Enzo prototype for sale

Very cool.

From here: http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/f...ale-2014-09-09

We implore you to stop whatever it is you're doing - especially that - sit down somewhere quiet and prepare your heart for an overdose of ‘want'. Here, for your motoring delectation, is an old Ferrari with gold wheels.

Perhaps we should explain. It is not just any old Ferrari with gold wheels, but a prototype Ferrari. A prototype Ferrari with a very special 6.0-litre V12. In short, it's the car that served as a test mule for the all-conquering Ferrari Enzo, and it's up for sale.

Modena Motorsports, a company working out of Langenfeld in Germany, is offering up this one-off creation, originally auctioned off by Sotheby's way back in 2005, and you need to pay attention.

You see, before the Enzo arrived in 2002, Ferrari was of course, working tirelessly on its halo model for some time. This car was one of three development mules used as rolling test beds for development of the car. Specifically, that astonishing V12 engine.

The body is from the old 348, stretched by 250mm to accommodate that monster V12, which got a welded aluminium air box and the oil radiator from the 550. All in, we're told it churns out a healthy 660bhp - 10bhp more than the production Enzo.

Then there's the gearbox, brakes and suspension, all lifted from the 355 Challenge. The rear light assembly and interior instrument panel comes from the 360. The 348's face has been modified with an asymmetrical air vent. The wings are made from composite materials, and rear wings are removable. The rear bumper has an air outlet and four exhaust pipes.

And then some gold wheels happened. All in, this Enzo prototipo weighs just 1365kg. That's light.

The result, as you will judge with your own eyes, is a featherweight FrankenFerrari, and just a little bit cool. No word on price, but we suspect the original Sotheby's auction price of €195,000 will be comfortably eclipsed.

Gentlemen, start your drooling.

As collectible as they may be, every single Ferrari produced, from the magical 250 GTO to the cutting-edge SF90 Stradale, is designed to be driven. But as we all know, some owners prefer to stow them away to maintain an amazingly low mileage so that they can be auctioned at a similarly ridiculous price a few decades later. On the other side of the spectrum, some try to explore the sheer limits of a supercar's dynamic capabilities only to be met with an untimely demise.

An example of this is seen in the revered Ferrari Enzo. Just last year, an example with a crisp 356 miles on the clock was sold for $3.8 million. Earlier this year, an example in the Netherlands that was up for sale landed up slamming into a tree while on a test drive with a prospective owner at the helm.

While both of those sorts of stories are equally painful in their own way, you'll be glad to learn that there is an example of the Ferrari Enzo that is being well-loved and frequently used.

This particular model, now with a mileage figure of over 90,000 miles, has been dubbed the MM (most miles) Enzo and is an important part of a project being run by its owner Richard Losee.

Losee owned the car from new and put it to good use as soon as he took delivery. He was deadset on making this unit the world's highest mileage Enzo, which doesn't seem like too much of a tall order when you see how these cars are either stored or trashed almost without exception. To start things off, a motoring publication of the time was given the car for a rather unusual long-term test, covering a solid 10,000 miles in that period.

Believe it or not, shortly after passing 30,000 miles, this car was also dealt a catastrophic blow after an unfortunate incident at the 2006 Utah Highway Patrol's Fast Pass Charity event, where Losee lost control of the car which resulted in the car lifting into the air at 206 mph. After 30 months of labor, the car was returned to its former glory and thus allowed to add more mileage on the odometer.

While being reassembled, the decision was made to take the MM Enzo to the next level by slapping a pair of turbochargers onto the naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 to give it an astonishing 847-horsepower output. While still under the ownership of Losee, the car is now in the hands of Instagram user @dryl8k, who also goes by CT and allows the classic car to live a more passive life. Fairly recently, it had its factory-fitted 'targa' doors swapped out for an original set so that it could be more comfortable during colder weather.
