The 707-horsepower super sedan from Dodge, the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat, will cost the world just $63,995 (plus $995 destination) including its $1,700 gas guzzler tax, Chrysler announced today.

That gives it a slightly higher starting price—and a slightly worse dollar-per-horsepower rating—than the $59,995 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Chrysler also released pricing on the rest of the 2015 Charger lineup, including the 485-hp SRT 392 ($47,385) and R/T Scat Pack ($39,995), the 370-hp Charger R/T ($32,995), Charger SXT ($29,995), and the base 292-hp Charger SE ($27,995). All prices exclude a $995 destination charge.

There are new features for several models as well for 2015:

- Charger SE gets a 5.0-inch Connect touchscreen and 7-inch driver information display, with all-wheel drive now available as well
- Charger SXT gets Uconnect Access, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and LED fog lamps
- Charger R/T is now equipped with the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic as standard, plus a rear spoiler and 20-inch wheels

A new Plus Group is also available this model year, with $3,700 in features packaged together for just $2,000, including Nappa leather sport seats, heated steering wheel and rear seats, HID headlamps, polished aluminum wheels with Graphite color pockets, ParkSense parking assist, and ParkView backup camera. The Plus Group is available on SXT and R/T models.

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has received an EPA fuel economy rating of 13 miles per gallon in the city and a fairly impressive 22 miles per gallon on the highway. That city figure isn't shocking, but getting over 20 on the highway is pretty solid.

Especially when you remember that the car has an oh-so-thirsty 707-horspeower, 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine under its hood.

Now, if we're being completely honest here, hitting those fuel economy numbers would take a level of restraint even Gandhi would find impressive. That's because the noise emanating from the exhaust outlets is intoxicating, the whine from the supercharger is more addictive than high-fructose corn syrup, and the velocity one is able to generate while piloting a sedan is the best kind of laughable.

Yes, it may grow old for some eventually. A cruise down the highway with a light foot could easily return fuel economy over that 20 mile per gallon mark.

That's not what the car is for though, and you should instead be out measuring your Hellcat mileage in tires burned, smoke produced, or maybe even speeding tickets procured.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU] this week held a dealer meeting in Las Vegas where it showed off many of its upcoming models, both confirmed cars and previously unknown ones. The big news was confirmation of a new Barracuda to be sold by Dodge as the likely replacement for its Challenger muscle car.

Another crucial model unveiled was the next-generation Charger, which according to Automotive News (subscription required) sources will feature coupe-like styling similar to that shown on Dodge’s Charger R/T concept car from 1999 (shown below). It will be staying a sedan, though.

As has previously been reported, the new Charger will ride on the rear-wheel-drive (with available all-wheel drive) platform making its debut in the Alfa Romeo Giulia. This platform will also be used for the new Barracuda. Curiously, there was no mention of a new Chrysler 300 at the meeting, the current version of which shares its platform with the current Charger and Challenger duo.

The timing of the new Charger’s launch is still a mystery. In its five-year strategy announcement made in May 2014, FCA said the car would be introduced in 2018 alongside a new Challenger (presumably the Barracuda). However, reports from earlier this year claimed numerous vehicle programs at FCA had been delayed, including the new Charger whose release was said to have been pushed back from the 2018 calendar year into 2019 or later.

Though yet to be confirmed, we’ve also heard that the new Charger and the Challenger-replacing Barracuda won’t feature HEMI V-8 engines in their high-performance SRT variants. As we previously reported, there’s a chance all SRT products from the 2019 model year onwards will downsize to either four-cylinder or V-6 engines with forced induction.

At the dealer meeting, FCA is said to have confirmed some additional models for the first time. These included the next-generation Wrangler and new Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee Trackhawk from Jeep, a sporty Dart perhaps with GLH badging (a previously announced Dart SRT has been canned) from Dodge, and a new Durango-sized SUV for Chrysler.
