Post 2015 Dodge Challenger Shaker

Press release...

Designed to deliver maximum performance and the most Dodge muscle-car heritage in the brand’s lineup, the new 2015 Challenger R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker and first-ever 392 HEMI® Scat Pack Shaker models celebrate 45 years of the functional “cold-air grabbing” hood scoop that “shakes” with the legendary HEMI V-8 engine’s movement.

“After selling out last year’s Shaker model production in just four days, our hardcore Challenger customers demanded we bring back the Shaker – plus offer more power and more performance,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. “We listened, and for 2015, the new Dodge Challenger lineup offers the legendary Shaker hood expanded to include our 485 horsepower HEMI V-8 delivering up to 113 more horsepower than last year, plus even more track-proven hardware and technology – a combination our enthusiasts have been waiting for.”

New 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker and R/T Plus Shaker are available for ordering now, with the high-performance 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker model available for customer orders in March.

45 years of the Shaker hood

As the model name suggests, the legendary “cold-air grabbing” Shaker not only looks good with its Satin Black center-mounted hood scoop, snorkeling up from the engine compartment, it also directs cooler air back into the 5.7-liter, or now 6.4-liter (392 cu.in.), HEMI® V-8 engine. And, like the original 1970 Challenger R/T with the Shaker hood, the new 2015 Challenger models continue the Dodge tradition of an engine-mounted hood scoop that “shakes” with the powertrain’s movement.

Designed for muscle-car buffs who can’t help but tinker with their toys, the Challenger R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker models feature a functional Shaker hood with Mopar cold-air intake, conical air filter and optimized air box for improved airflow and performance. Lift the hood and enthusiasts will also be treated to an under-hood “Shaker” graphic – reminiscent of the 1970s original.

Challenger R/T Shaker

For drivers who like to share their performance credentials, the new Challenger R/T Shaker adds a functional Shaker hood with cold-air induction and Mopar conical air filter to the Challenger R/T model’s 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine delivering up to 375 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. In addition the package adds hood-to-tail Satin Black Shaker graphic stripes, Shaker hood badges, black deck-lid spoiler with Parkview backup camera, “Shaker” startup screen, Satin Black fuel-filler door with heritage “FUEL” lettering, projector fog lamps, 20-inch polished aluminum satin finish wheels with black pockets and premium black cloth performance seats with Ballistic 2 inserts and Tungsten accent stitching.

The new TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission is available (372 horsepower, 400 lb.-ft. of torque) and includes Sport mode with paddle shifters, plus Fuel Saver Technology with four-cylinder mode and interactive Decel Fuel Shut Off (iDFSO).

Super Track Pak

For maximum performance on road and track, Challenger R/T Shaker includes the Super Track Pak with a full complement of race-bred chassis upgrades, including a 0.5-inch lowered suspension, high-performance Bilstein shock absorbers, high-performance brakes, three-mode electronic stability control (ESC) calibration with “full off” and three-season Goodyear Eagle F1 tires (Goodyear Eagle RSA all-season performance tires available). For a more road-holding stance, the Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker is available with 20-by-9-inch matte black lightweight forged aluminum wheels (late availability).

The new 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker model has a starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $35,495 (all prices exclude $995 destination).

Challenger R/T Plus Shaker

Adding to the Challenger R/T Shaker model’s standard equipment, the new 2015 Challenger R/T Plus Shaker includes unique heated and ventilated Nappa leather performance seats with “Shaker” logo stitched in Black and Ruby Red, or Black and Sepia; unique door bolsters with graduated accent stitching, premium floor mats with “Dodge” logo, Dodge Performance leather-wrapped steering wheel with power tilt-and-telescoping column, Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen display with AM/FM/SiriusXM Radio, Bluetooth, 3-D navigation-capable and Uconnect Access with 9-1-1 call/Assist Call , six premium speakers and 276-watt digital amplifier. For a more road-holding stance, the Dodge Challenger R/T Plus Shaker is available with 20-by-9-inch matte black lightweight forged aluminum wheels.

Expanding on the Super Track Pak’s capability, the Challenger R/T Plus Shaker adds a shortcut button to the new Dodge Performance Pages embedded in the class-exclusive Uconnect 8.4-inch touch screen radio that provides visible performance information, such as programmable shift light indicator, reaction time, 0-60 times, G-force indicator and lap times in the 7-inch TFT customizable cluster display.

The new 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Plus Shaker model has a starting U.S. MSRP of $38,495.

Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker

As the “King of all Shakers,” the 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker ups-the-ante with its best-in-class 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque, delivering up to 113 more horsepower and a 65-lb.-ft. leap in torque compared with the 5.7-liter Challenger R/T Shaker models — representing more than a 30 percent jump in horsepower and 18 percent jump in torque. The coupe’s best-in-class power enables it to turn mid 4-second 0-60 mph times and low 12-second quarter mile times.

Adding to the standard equipment found on the Dodge Challenger R/T Plus Shaker, the first-ever 2015 Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker includes a 6.4-liter (392 cu.in.) HEMI V-8 engine with 485 horsepower and exposed functional shaker hood with engine-mounted high-flow cold-air induction, Tremec six-speed manual transmission (new TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission with paddle shifters is available), Scat Pack fender badge, 392 HEMI Shaker hood badge, 180 mph primary speedometer, active stainless steel performance dual exhaust system and 220-amp alternator. In addition, the Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker takes the Super Track Pak suspension to the next level with a Brembo four-piston high-performance brake package and 20-by-9-inch polished aluminum wheels.

Scat Pack Appearance Group

With the available Scat Pack Appearance Group, the 2015 Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker model replaces the hood-to-tail Satin Black Shaker graphic stripes for the signature Satin Black Bumble Bee rear stripe – a Dodge heritage cue that dates back to 1968. Additional equipment includes Scat Pack-logo embroidered performance seats in Black or Ruby Red Nappa leather, animated “Scat Pack” Bumble Bee splash screen and 20-by-9-inch lightweight forged matte black aluminum wheels. MSRP for the Scat Pack Appearance Group is $1,100.

The new 2015 Dodge Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker model has a starting U.S. MSRP of $42,495 (excluding $1,000 gas-guzzler tax with manual transmission).

Heritage Hues

Heritage and high-impact exterior colors for the 2015 Dodge Challenger Shaker model range include B5 Blue, Sublime Green and TorRed. Other factory colors include Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Pitch Black and Granite Crystal Metallic.

Dodge continues to build on the Scat Pack legacy

In 1968, Dodge united the brand’s performance vehicle enthusiasts through the creation of the “Scat Pack Club.” The Scat Pack Club quickly transformed and expanded from an enthusiast club, into an over-arching Dodge performance philosophy. This shared philosophy ultimately evolved into the desire for even more performance. Dodge and Mopar brands partnered to respect this need by delivering factory-engineered performance stage kits that would ultimately become known as “Scat Packs.”

For the 2015 model year, the all-new 2015 Challenger R/T Scat Pack and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker models were created to deliver even more performance to the Dodge lineup. With a best-in-class 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque, track-ready performance features, heritage styling and the availability of the class-exclusive TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission – these two Challenger models are targeted directly at hardcore Dodge enthusiasts.

Post 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT

Press release...

Hellcat continues to prowl

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat returns in 2016 as the quickest, fastest and most powerful muscle car ever. Propelled by the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8, its 707 horsepower rating is highest of any V-8 engine in FCA US celebrated history. The supercharged HEMI engine can be mated with the six-speed manual transmission or the beefy TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic.

This HEMI® Hellcat engine is Dodge and SRT’s first application of V-8 supercharger technology, delivering the full brand experience with fresh potency.

This breakthrough supercharged engine features a forged-steel crankshaft with induction-hardened bearing surfaces. The result is a crank so well-engineered it can withstand firing pressures of 110 bar (1,595 psi) – the equivalent of five family sedans standing on each piston, every two revolutions. And its unique, specially tuned crank damper has been tested to 13,000 rpm.

High-strength, forged-alloy pistons – developed using advanced telemetry measurement – are coupled to powder-forged connecting rods with high-load-capacity bushings and diamond-like-carbon-coated piston pins.

Also returning in 2016 is the Dodge Challenger SRT 392 model with its 392 cubic inch HEMI V-8. Power output remains at a potent 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque.

The SRT 392 model also can be mated with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic or the proven six-speed manual transmission.

SRT Drive Modes tailor the driving experience to each individual driver

Whether its on-road or on-track, Challenger SRT owners can personalize their drive experience via the Drive Modes feature. Drive Modes tailor the driving experience by controlling horsepower, transmission shift speeds, steering (Challenger SRT only), paddle shifters (automatic transmission only), traction and suspension. Drive Modes are pre-configured for Sport, Track and Default settings, while the Custom setting lets the driver customize the drive experience to their favorite settings.

Custom - Allows the driver to personalize the vehicle’s performance
Sport - Delivers increased vehicle performance capability over the Default Mode
Track - Delivers maximum vehicle performance capability on smooth, dry surfaces
Default - Activates automatically when starting the vehicle

I think i would change is make it have bigger fenders to fit wider wheels/tires and differentiate the hellcats from other Challengers. 275 rear tires on a 700hp car is sad.

I agree. It should have wider tires and fenders that accommodated them to make the car look more aggressive

Post 2016 Dodge Shakedown Challenger

Press release...

The Dodge Shakedown Challenger weaves together design cues from the past and present to create a uniquely original Mopar creation. The blend of yesterday and today is distinctly visible through exterior and interior styling, but comes to throaty fruition under the hood, where new Mopar-powered products — to be revealed later on Tuesday during the Mopar SEMA press event — administer a jolt to the heart of the classic 1971 Challenger.

The Shakedown Challenger drives 485 horsepower to the pavement via a Viper Tremec T6060 six-speed transmission and is further augmented by a Mopar concept cold-air intake and Mopar custom dual exhaust with black powder-coated Mopar exhaust tips. The custom front and rear suspension is lowered, dropping the Shakedown Challenger closer to the road — or to the track — creating a capable performer versatile enough to tackle the street or Pro Touring/Drift-type motorsports competition. Braking power is supplied by Brembo-red SRT® Hellcat six-piston front brakes and four-piston rear brakes.

The merging of old-school muscle with the 21st century is quickly evident on the “Bitchin’ Black” exterior, hung on a unique hand-built, one-off frame with a removable body. The Dodge Shakedown Challenger rolls on concept SRT Hellcat Slingshot-designed 19-inch by 9 1/2-inch front and 20-inch by 9 1/2-inch rear wheels, providing a “coiled” stance. A heritage-inspired 1971 Shaker hood scoop is added with help from select parts from the Mopar brand’s modern-day Shaker hood kit, feeding fresh air to the HEMI® powerplant.

The Shaker hood scoop is accented on top with a black “Shakedown” badge outlined in red, tying in neatly with custom gloss-black and gloss-red stripes that hug the scoop and flow down to the fascia and also up and over the roof to the tail, extending around and underneath the valance.

The 1971 Dodge Challenger body is shaved, deleting the door handles, drip rails and fuel door, which is relocated to the trunk. The Dodge Shakedown Challenger incorporates concept front headlamps and taillamps from the 2017 Dodge Challenger “massaged” to mesh seamlessly with ’71 Challenger proportions. The headlamp bezels are Satin Black, as are the housing and surround of the tail lamps, which feature lenses trimmed in red. The modern Challenger grille and surround also get the Satin Black treatment, set off by gloss-black grille bezels. Satin Black also colors the concept rear spoiler and chin spoiler, fog lamp bezels and mirror caps. Matching red Mopar 392 logo decals on the front fenders complete the exterior.

Heading inside, the iconic Dodge is further transformed with modern mods. Dodge Viper front seats are re-trimmed in black Katzkin leather bolstered by black Alcantara inserts and red stitching matching the embroidery on the Dodge Viper steering wheel, which features a custom satin black airbag cover and shroud. The black leather shift boot adds additional modern Challenger DNA, capped by an SRT Hellcat gearshift knob. Mopar instrument panel gauges are black, contrasted with the gloss carbon fiber instrument panel cluster trim. The center console, steering wheel trim and door panels are also gloss carbon fiber. A black “Shakedown” badge outlined in red is stamped on the dash.

The Shakedown’s potential as a track performer is catered to with a custom roll bar and rear seat delete, replaced with netting and a console shelf for storing racing essentials. The fuel cell and lines are stored in the black-carpet lined trunk.

I'm guessing wide body drag racer...I'd be shocked if it was a street legal car. And the Hellcat tearing into/drinking a race fuel filler I think is a telltale clue...and the fact they were setting up for a 1/4 mile.

Take this with a grain of salt since it was a commenter on Jalopnik:
Can confirm that these are ready and on the road. Challenger/Charger/300 plant is on my way to work and they test drive through the area every day. So I usually see at least 10ish cars on my way into work.
I saw 2 Charger Demons and a Challenger Demon. I thought they were Hellcats and saw a big weird logo on the drivers side of the grille. Couldn’t make out what it said, but realized it wasn’t a normal badging. No wide body kit on them. Hellcat structure.
But I will tell you. They’re loud. They’re weeknight at a local coffee shop, guy with a 5.7 Hemi Charger put a straight pipe exhaust on it and its obnoxiously loud. There was one straggler and it was a bright yellow Demon. It wasn’t hammering on it, and probably revving through 2000-2500 rpm. I could feel it in my chest driving by.Its loud. Im excited.

The video definitely makes it look wide-bodied though. Maybe a wide-bodied Hellcat?

Dodge Demon Race Gas Mode - 2018 Challenger SRT Demon Runs 100+ Octane Fuel

Yep, It's Official: The Dodge Demon Has a Race Gas Mode For 100+ Octane Fuel

It's the first factory production car ever designed to run on unleaded race fuel, thanks to some trick parts in the Demon Crate.

By Bob Sorokanich
Apr 6, 2017

It's been rumored from the very beginning, and today, it's confirmed: The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will have a special mode and engine tuning to allow the car to take full advantage of 100+ octane race gas. It's the world's first factory production car to offer such a mode, but accessing it will be a little tricky.

2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon: What We Know
As we've told you before, each new 2018 Demon comes with a Demon Crate, a big bin of goodies specially designed to help Demon owners optimize their ultra-Hellcats for the drag strip. Along with the jack and cordless impact wrench to swap on those skinny front wheels and tires, the crate will include a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibrated for premium unleaded race gasoline, along with a new center console switch cluster that includes the High Octane fuel button.

Filling up with 100+ octane race gas will allow the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi to run more aggressive ignition timing, which Dodge promises will lead to "big changes in elapsed time" at the drag strip. Dual fuel pumps and bigger fuel injectors allow higher fuel flow compared to the regular Hellcat. The car only has one fuel tank, making it all but inevitable that some 91-octane street fuel will mix in with the race gas; if the engine's knock sensors detect that the effective octane rating is not sufficient for High Octane mode, a warning will tell the driver to switch to the standard fuel setting.

In today's announcement, Dodge also confirmed that the Demon Crate will be shipped to buyers separately, and implies that installing the upgraded PCM and switch panel will be the owner's task. It's unclear whether this is required for regulatory purposes, but it does mean you likely won't be able to fill up with 100+ octane race fuel the moment you drive off the dealership lot in your new Demon. No matter: The final product should be worth the wait.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon makes its official debut at the 2017 New York International Auto Show on April 11th. Until then, get yourself caught up on everything we know so far about the mega Hellcat.
