especially those TSX Wagons that have been in blue. The one at the NY AutoShow last month was blue and God was that butt ugly looking. I've love the sales reps there talking about it like its God's gift to man and I'm just thinking to myself that, that thing is going to be one massive FAIL!

I like the front end and side views of the new Regal but there is just something about the rear end that just doesn't look right to me, I don't know if it is that weird looking lip spolier coming off the trunk or what but I just think the rear end doesn't flow as nicely as the rest of the car!
Personally, though, I sat in both cloth and leather seat Regals at the autoshow last month and boy, I thought the TSX's leather seats were firm and hard on my back, these Regal seats took the cake. As soon as I sat in them they pushed so much on my back I had to get out. I even made sure the lumbar support wasn't out and it wasn't. Ouch for me, but I have a sensitive back but others might find the really firm seats really good on their back, who knows. Seat quality/comfort is always highly subjective!
I do think Buick is going in the right direction! Buick seems to be more popular and in the lime light right now more than Cadillac! The Buick exhibt at the auto show had much much larger crowds then the Cadillac one did when my Dad and I were there that day! Though I personally would take a CTS over the Regal or LaCrosse anyday!

I mean how has the G8 and the GTO held up now that they've got a few years on em'?
I would think that should help understand how the insignia based regal will hold up over time reliability wise.

I don't think that there is a market for a 4-cyl. turbo Buick small car, much less a manual one.
The G8 GT/GXP was just fine. That's the car that should have revived at Buick. Not to say that the Insigna is not nice.... I have seen many of them last year in Europe.

Well, it's been noted that Buick is targeting a younger demographic with this car. And it's competing with the TSX directly, and, I think, 3 series. What the Regal GS offer is an excellent package. Imagine if Acura had offered a TSX Type S with a revised RDX turbo engine.

A Commodore platformed vehicle is a basis that, I agree, would make for a good Buick revival. Slotting above the Regal (thus replacing the Lacrosse), I could see a G8 with a Lacrosse-esque exterior and interior deal. Of course this all would push a model starting in the low or mid-30s, but hey, there's the Genesis and 300 to contend with.

However, Buick was confident enough to replace entry Lacrosses completely with I-4s so they must be fairly confident. I guess time will tell.

A much needed add to the Buick lineup. Personally, I love it. I only hope that the interior layout (which isn't as luxurious as the Lacrosse, even comparably speaking on a "lesser car") isn't to Teutonic for the N.A. market. That said, the new C-Class's interior is in that same vein and it does fine. Then again, it is a C-Class...

I saw a Buick Regal ad for the first time tonight. Looked very good but it was not a GS. The commercial said price as shown was $31k which makes me think that a GS is going to be mid-30s.
The GS is what is going to get people into the showroom. They need to start pimping that car.

If GM just takes this Insignia (the Opel model name), and tarts it up with Buick badges only, it will be a nice handling car. Europeans prefer a firm ride / handling car, and if Buick does not f@#$ this part up, it will be a winner.
I think, and this is just my opinion, to be competitive with Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Infiniti, (or at least invited to the discussion) GM should do the following to make this a real winner:
1: Invest in good quality control
2: Do not cheap out on the interior parts
3: The engine choices should top out at a 300 HP AWD car, with either 6MT or a sequential Auto (I know they will be autos only, but there is hope). Just don't make the entry model an absolute dog (lets say 150HP). The starting engine could be 200 - 225.
4: price it where it is a value compared to those above.
5: AWD should be an option.
Just my opinion, nothing more.

Initial reviews praise the ride/handling payoff on this car, so it seems like they haven't messed with it too much. Interior quality and materials are also noted to be quite good.
The 2012 GS model will have a torque vectoring AWD system standard, and it will probably have a 6M choice with the paddle shift automatic being a no cost option. The 2011 CXL Turbo offers a choice of the automatic or manual, actually.
So they're well on their way to fufilling your thoughts!

I'll be interested to see what the insides look like. I haven't seen one up close. I'm waiting for the GS to hit showrooms before I go look at them.
I figure if I'm going to torture myself it might as well be over a car I'd actually want to own.

I've sat in a new Regal and overall it's very nice. The interior is very Germany as Buick may want, not very playful but well built and some nice materials. Reminds me of a BMW (but I liked the overall interior more than the 3-Series' design).
I did not drive it since I'll only be interested in the GS model that's still a year away, but so far its dynamics have been praised in the magazines. I can only imagine a turbocharger and manual make it better, or in the case of the GS an advanced AWD system and mooooore power.

Guys, do you envision the aftermarket products to be plentiful? If the engine options leave a bit to be desired, I think I'd like to bump up the power just a bit.
