If they were selling the Insignia here, I would consider them. It's not a brand thing for me, it's an offering issue. Though I'm still prejudiced against any Korean cars....

whether it's a brand or offering issue, it sure seems like more people are open to considering those makers now.

True.

I think it's mostly because GM is doing what they should have done all along. Offering good cars that they're already making in the European markets to US customers.

This is the best looking American sedan I think I have ever seen. Everything from the inside out is just gorgeous! I want to buy one of these things right now!!!

And whoever said those wheels are ugly is either high or retarded! One of the best OEM wheel designs I have ever seen (and I believe they are 20's)....

^20s on the GS, 19s on the others.

Since the Lacrosse starts at $27K, would it be safe to assume this will start at ~$24K?

What I'm interested in is what the GS will cost. I'm hoping the low $30k's...

That would be nice, but I would think mid to high $30s, since a fully loaded Lacrosse tops out at ~$43K

That's like 3G TL or G35X pricing. It's a win, for sure.

The Insignia is coming up on the start of its third model year so this may have a relatively short model run - 2 or 3 years - if they keep basing it on the Insignia. I assume like the Astra this will be imported from Europe so GM will be under financial/political pressure to move manufacturing to the US. When that happens the design may revert back to some bland domestic look.

From what I read last night in C&D, it will start being made in NA at some point in the near future.

It will be competing with the likes of the TSX and the Passat CC, so pricing should be similar to those.

Impressive indeed, since most of its competitors only offer 18s as on option.

^ I'll be in the market for a new car in the next 6-12 months and will definitely check the Regal GS.

Edit: Come to think of it my list is mainly American cars, something 3-4 years ago never happened when I ended up getting the 335.

The Regal GS and the TSX wagon are at the top of my list.

So is this a rebadged British Vauxhall or is it designed in China? Or are Vauxhalls designed in China now?

They're talking about building this in the Buick plant in Ontario IIRC.

Even if they delay introduction of the newest model by a year or two that wouldn't be that big a deal. That's what BMW and Audi do already ...

I have to assume that most/all of it was designed by Opel's studio in Germany. The Chinese version is the Buick Regal also and is a rebadge of the Insignia, but built by GM in/for China only.

Well the baby boomer parents are into their late 80s so they're not going to be buying many more cars.

The boomers will buy imports so I think Hyundai has a chance to take some of that if they want it. Mercury is still around but Lexus = Japanese Buick.

Um they'll probably buy Acuras and Crosstours

True story: A lady at my job that's like twice my age, approached me and started asking me about the Crosstour. She adored it and said it was gonna be her next car... I held back from laughing and proceeded to tell her that the Crosstour would be a good choice for her.

So where would the regal slot in Buicks lineup?

Below the Lacrosse or Above?

wait.. would regal then be a RWD application w/AWD as an option? Confused here.

no, I didn't mean literally, but segment-wise. I'm pretty sure the Regal will be FWD with AWD as an option, but seeing as how they're going to offer a turbocharged AWD version that looks like that VXR, the Regal will take the role as the sporty, younger car, and the Lacrosse will be the car aimed at the older crowd. AWD on the Lacrosse is probably just for people in the snowy areas.
