Acura: MDX News

To be expected though, Acura knows the MDX is probably their best product, so they won't mess with it too much.
Interior in the spyshots looks good though, I thought the RLX's interior was great, so I'm happy to see it in the MDX.

I was going to post that earlier. When I drove both the Enclave and Traverse at a GM event, both felt minivanish....which the 2G MDX can never be accused of.
Point taken on TiggaMan's post. If anything, the MDX maybe should go slightly upmarket to become a bit more like the MB GL....cause it definitely doesn't need to be a premium minivan a la Enclave and JX.

In Search Of Sunrise....
Does anyone know if the next gen will follow the RLX drive train (PAWS vs. SH-AWD)? If so, i really hope they release both simultaneously rather then 1 at a time like they're doing with the RLX!

The hybrid RLX isn't expected to be released until Fall 2013. I couldn't imagine the MDX, which is supposed to be released in Spring 2013, getting it before the RLX.

Was still under wraps today, bummed that the official reveal is tomorrow around 10:40am. Was anxious to check it out because it probably is the vehicle on our next shopping list, not sure if I'll have time to go back again.
There are some nice pics in the Acura brochure which imagine will pretty much be close to the production version to look like. Styling is not a huge improvement over the current gen which has aged very well. If anything the proportions look longer, more Q7~ish and I'm not sure yet in an outstanding way.

And the RDX looks like an updated version of the current MDX. I seriously wasn't expecting any drastic changes since the model sells so well.
With the better MPG and the updated look, these things will keep selling like hot cakes. I can't count how many MDXs I see everyday in New Jersey and I am all over the state with my job.
That thing will look great in Black!

I'll just add that it's profile reminds me of the Q7 as well.

I really hope it is longer. I would consider one if it was closer in size to the buick enclave.

"Prototype" is the perfect word to describe the this MDX concept as it doesn't appear to look like any Acura, or really any car, we've ever seen before. From its dramatic use of headlights in the front of the car to the inclusion of LEDs — normally reserved for hi-tech electronics — to the glass enclosed cockpit protecting its passengers from the elements, it is a shockingly sci-fi vision of a world we can barely glimpse.
Do we live in 2038 already? Is this Minority Report? Is there a use for a man anymore or is the future led by iron men with circuited brains?
Acura takes a huge risk with showing this prototype as it's impossible for them to create an MDX that looks remotely like this for production. Can you imagine them building it? Their buyers would wonder if they hadn't accidentally teleported to one of H.G. Wells' magical worlds of flying men and movable images beamed into every family's neon hovel.
Fortune favors the bold, and I can't imagine fortune smiling on anyone a much as Acura if even 10% this wild, absinthe-fueled dream is built.

It look closer in size to infiniti JX/LX. . One major difference in design is that Audi/Infiniti slope downward in the rear that give it minivan feel. MDX look more SUV. MDX is still best looking of this bunch unless we see X5.

Well the RDX looks like a Lexus
...makes sense that the MDX look like something else too...now it looks like an Audi.
When your original designs are tastic, you gotta go out and copy the ones that are better.
Great job, Acura!

Things are looking good so far! Nice work Acura and welcome back!

it looks like the current MDX and someone went to Pep Boys and bought after market LED strips.

Seems like it was designed by the NSX team. I think it looks pretty good for its segment and will continue to sell well The only thing I don't like are the LEDs in the front bumper. Why couldn't the RLX get some nice 5-spokes like this and NSX? I know it's bad for ride quality but they should at least offer the option.

It's a good looking vehicle. It has a great looking profile. I agree that it does look similar to the Q7. I hope the LED strip at the bottom doesn't make it to production.

Looks like a bigger RDX with the Geordi La Forge treatment for the headlights. It looks pretty good, and if they improved the mileage, and kept the price reasonable, it'll continue selling.

Looks decent. I don't have high expectations for SUVs in general, but this one is nice to look at.

calling it:
grill and front end remains mostly unchanged, led strips removed and lower front bumper modified slightly
rear bumper goes full plastic and reflectors end up fully passive
jewel headlights available in top end mdx advance package
and.... plain ass silver wheels inbound.

I think it looks good.
I wish the headlights had retained more of the sexy shape from the teaser and not come out so square. I think it would really complete the theme.
The LEDs on the bottom need to go. Give it the Jeweleye headlamps and nothing else.
And finally, thank God Acura has given up on silver as the color of all vehicle reveals. I think color helps it appear not so sterile.

I think it looks really great! The rear end reminds me of those Mercedes SUV's... the entire design looks much more upscale than the current MDX, and a huge step up from the new RDX.
Anyway, the moment I saw the new 2013 RDX I knew it was going to be a winner - and it is. I have a strong suspicion that this will be another huge winner for Acura again.

It only stands to reason that if you are going to claim technology on your mantle and ADVANCE as a tagline, your vehicles shouldn't be sporting the same halogens that debuted on a 1995 Geo Metro.
