That was just an updated concept, wasn't it? There's no way it'll look like that. I hope. Oh God.

Exclamation Revealed

This is the new Acura CDX for China, featuring a daring design with a giant Acura badge on the grille. The Acura CDX will debut on the Beijing Auto Show next week and launch on the Chinese car market in the third quarter of the year. The CDX will compare with cars like the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

The Acura CDX will be manufactured by the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture. It is the 1st Acura that is made in China. The CDX stands on the same platform and shares a lot of parts with the Honda XR-V SUV, but the CDX will be positioned higher up in the market.

Power will come from a 1.5 turbo with an output of 182hp and 240nm, mated to an 8-speed DCT. The cheap cars will be front-wheel drive, the top end car 4-wheel drive. Price will start around 150.000 yuan. Size: 4495/1840/1600, and wheelbase is 2660.

The Top photo doesn't look very good. The headlights are just out of place or something.

Acura I am not sure this was the right choice for the second new car to use the new grill.

Its not terribly ugly, just cheap looking due to the tinny wheels relative to the size of the car. But undersized tires are pretty much a long standing tradition at Honda/Acura.

that is 1 huge emblem. You can kill someone with it.

For some reason, i actually prefer the beak over this... Front view of the grill look like you are being sucked into a black hole.

Awful, maybe the ugliest car of the decade. Concept 2013 looks extremely cool in comparison to this.
Acura, wtf? What is happenning, there were good steps in design two years ago, but this..

I guess I need to change my grill for that of Honda Legend, I don't want people to associate my car with somebody who designed this CDX.
The current small beak was overall okay with Jewel Eyes. Why??? After so many years of beak refinement throw everything away and slap this frightening pentagon in front..

I like the grille but man, it's way out of proportion for a subcompact. Works for the MDX, sure. But Acura, you gotta downsize it a bit!

Acura has been selling cars in China for 10 years.

They are also available in Russia and Kuwait.

I can read traditional Chinese no problem, but I can still read the above simplified Chinese..just takes more time...

Here's basically what the first picture about the transmission says:

Torque converter makes low speed driving smoother and allows for torque multiplication. It's used in many Honda products with AT and CVT. The 8-DCT is also mated to a torque converter.

I can actually read both the traditional and simplified Chinese. Again even the Chinese materials I have read so far didn't mention about CVT.

I can read both. Just dont understand what those technical terms actually mean.

It is funny how they translated "Torque & Lb/ft or meter" Cow per meter

Yea, I don't think it's offered with a CVT. It's gonna be a 8-DCT. I guess we will find out pretty soon.

Haha yess, Newton meter. they just translate it literally....lol...

In typical Honda fashion, it would make sense for them to cram the 8DCT into as many different cars as possible, just to get the best return on investment from it. Currently only the ILX and 4cyl TLX rely on it and combined, they aren't huge sellers. Yes, the TLX sells pretty good, but the ILX is still fairly low.

Acura has unveiled their Chinese-built compact premium SUV in Beijing today, the new CDX, aimed particularly at the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3.

Even though the CDX uses the same platform as the Honda XR-V (known elsewhere as the HR-V), wearing an Acura badge means that it will be positioned higher up in the compact SUV hierarchy, which is where a handful of German rivals reside.

Speaking of badges, it's wearing a rather gigantic one on the front grille, surrounded by the full LED headlights. At the rear however, the Acura badge is considerably smaller.

Thanks to Chinese websites like Autohome & Auto163, we can see that there are lots of intricate design details on its body. Most notably, the profile has two very sharp crease lines that almost intersect beneath the mirrors. Aside from the large badge and aggressive headlights, the front end helps you recognize the car as an Acura, whereas the rear is a little bit more generic - even with those tailpipes integrated within the black bumper.

Power is said to come from a 1.5-liter petrol-powered turbocharged unit, good for 182 HP and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque. Both front-wheel drive as well as 4WD models will be available, all using an 8-speed DCT automatic transmission.

According to Chinese media, the CDX measures 4,495/1,840/1,600mm (176.9/72.4/62.9 in), with a wheelbase of 2,660mm (104.7 in), which confirms what was previously reported last week.

Acura's new CDX is said to hit the Chinese market in Q4, priced between 250,000 and 300,000 yuan (roughly $38,000 - $46,000).

THis Honda Avancier SUV. Do you see shift knob with 2.0T. this direction Honda is going. Chinese market will have more SUVs than US market.
