a bit confused

As the title states, i'm confused on the cls systems. I have an 03 cls-6 with factory audio all around. I want to replace all the speakers, but I know in doing so in my old 2gtl that you have to bypass the eq. Is that the case on the cl's? or am i able to just drop in new speakers all around. I have a set of jl c2 650's sitting in my closet waiting for this so any answers would be awesome!

You can drop new Speakers but the OEM EQ is tuned horribly for the OEM Speakers so You wont get the best of JL speakers until you replace the POS HU.

FYI: The OEM HU serves as AMP for the Speakers the EQ is on top of the HU behind the A/C Control System. Only way to bypass this system is by removing the OEM HU and bypassing the EQ.

Do you have any info on how to bypass the EQ? With pictures?

Not with pictures but if you buy the Crutchfield OEM Harness plug for Aftermarket HUs you will auto-bypass it. Otherwise you will have to look into the Repair Manual for cable diagrams.

Basically OEM:
MUSIC > HU > EQ > HU > Speakers.
When you bypass it:
MUSIC > Aftermarket HU > Speakers
When you Amp it:
MUSIC > Aftermarket HU > AMP > Speakers.

The link you have is the Wiring Harness you need.
But here is the Crutchfield one: Metra 70-1721 Receiver Wiring Harness Connect a new car stereo in select 1998-2013 Honda, Acura, and Suzuki vehicles at Crutchfield.com

That wiring harness completely by-pass the OEM EQ as it only gives you the cables for Power and 4 Speakers.
Remember to connect the Orange cable for Auto-Dimming feature in your new HU.

Why would you want to re-use that crap?

But anyways you will need to splice 3 cables in the factory sub amp behind the rear passenger seats. There is no aftermarket HU harness that re-use the factory sub.
