TL: 2004 Sub replaced

2004 Sub replaced
First post. My bad if I'm doing this wrong.
Blew my sub on my 2004 TL
Place replaced with a 200 watt 8 in sub but there is no beat. It is half or a third of what I used to hear bass wise. Turning sub all the way negative or positive makes barely any difference.
Is the issue that the stock amp doesn't have enough juice? Do I need a new amp? Did I get hosed?
Never posted but I've read many threads and I appreciate everyone's help here.

You're on the right track but there could be several possibilities at play here. The mostly likely suspect is the stock amp cannot provide the juice needed to make an aftermarket sub sound correctly. Also, the sub they replaced it with may not be ideal for an IB enclosure type thus not producing output.

Thanks Bchester
Thanks for the input. I just don't know why they didn't try to sell me a new amp as well or explain what the result of the replacement might be. I guess I went to an amateur spot. Really appreciate the answer!

No problem. Dealing with shops can be an interesting experience. They don't want to be too pushy with product so it's like this dance that you do with them so you feel like your in control of what's happening but they know you'll be back for more... They knew it as soon as they handed you the keys. It's a known thing in the business, return customers are more inclined to open their wallets a little wider esp. since they got the "bug" for car audio. Unfortunately, this is where customers are most vulnerable.

Check the ohms (impedance) on the sub. I believe the 3G is 2 ohms all around. That would make a 4 ohm sub sound pretty weak. Audio shop would probably not suspect a 2 ohm system as I think it's pretty rare.
