Speaker RMS greater than amp RMS ok?

i'm currently running jbl gto608c components in my front setup but want to switch to image dynamics ctx65cs components. my JL xd500/3 amp would push 75W RMS to a 4 ohm speaker but the image dynamics set has an RMS of 100W. Will I be ok running my amp to those speakers since the amp is underrated? i don't have an option to bridge extra channels and won't buy a new amp setup.

i researched general online info but i get conflicting info about if this is bad or not. i know ideally i would match the rms but this is my current situation.

You wont have a problem, The only thing you have to do is set the gain properly, not that you going to burn the speakers, but clipping and distortion will come to play.

Your amp will do fine on these Image Dynamics, you have nothing to worry about....

#1. Gain's need to be set correctly - I assume you will run passive crossovers on these spekaers.
#2. set your crossover points correctly, so you wont get distortion.

Here is a little example,

Just because your amp does 75@4 ohm, this wont damage the speaker, amp wont work any harder than it already did.

What this means is, your speakers could take 100 w rms, all day long without braking it, or burning them out.

I always over power my speakers, but again, I have sound processor, and 3 amps to control my sound system...

Either way, you will be fine, nothing to worry about, but ID's in and enjoy the music!

thanks for the info!
i'll be going passive crossovers that come with the component set.
my crossover points on my amp are currently set to 80 hz.

i'm debating between simple mdf spacers and hdpe spacers, do you think it's worth it to go hdpe or is mdf going to be good enough? it hardly rains here so i'm not sure if my mdf rings would be damaged. i'm going to get 3/4" spacers.

by the way i liked your install, pretty hard core!

3/4 MDF will be fine, the only thing you need to do is a custom spacer, because you will have a hard time putting the doors back on, thats just my experience. some people actually mold the ring in to the doors and screw the speaker in to the ring... I should have though of that when i was doing mine.

What you could do is, go to home depot and pick up some rubber spray seal, its like 8$ or something in these lines, I sprayed my rings with that, so if there is any water,,, they wont get damaged.. I live in IL so yea winter, and rain comes here a lot.

Thanks for the kind words, system is still in process of upgrade. finishing sub box now

80hz is a good start, if you plan on pushing them louder and you notice cracks, or distortion, I would either pick up to 90hz, or lower your gains, your amp might be clipping and send bad signal to your speakers... this will cause little damage ... just keep that in mind.
