I have a 04 tl with navigation. I just got done installing a supercharger on. The guy I bought the car from, a few months back, had installed a pioneer double din radio. So instead of installing the gauges on the piller or dash we decided to remove the factory radio and make a custom plate for the gauges.


Problem is now the navigation touch screen and bottom row of buttons does not work. The screen turns on, asking for the navigation code, but I am unable to input the code.

Is the factory radio connected to just the touch screen? Or did someone mess up along the line?

There's a thread on this from a few years back. The best I can remember is there's a resistor in the radio that either has to be removed and connected to the navi or you can buy a resistor and connect it to the proper navi wires. Don't hold me to it because I wasn't paying much attention but it was something to that affect. I would guess to make the navi unusable if stolen.

If anyone else has this problem when removing the factory radio, you need a 100ohm 1watt resistor ($2 at RadioShack).

First)
Take the 26-pin connector that plugs into the back of the headunit

Second)
Take one end of the resistor and stick it into pin 26.

Third)
Take the other end of the resistor and stick it into pin 13.

Fourth)
Tape the resistor so that no exposed ends can contact metal.


This can also be done but cutting the factory wires and soldering the resistor in; this was a faster and easier way though. Also it is easier to return to stock if you ever wish to.
