Dimensions of TL '04-'08 TL trunk.

Could somebody please measure the truck behind the back seat for me. Width between wheelwells and height from trunk floor to the bottom of the speakers in the trunk. I am going to build a sub box for the Buick I am driving now. I plan on buying a 07-08 TL in July 2012. That way I don't have to bulid another box. Thankyou very much. I was not sure where to put this tread, sorry if its in the wrong area, or is a repeat question. GOD BLESS and Merry Christmas. JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. AMEN

What kind of box you building. i ask becuz the TL trunk has "steps" at the sides in the rear. something like this. |-_______-| . the very bottom is right under 34 inches. the step is iirc 1.5 inches then from there up is around 37. then rear angle plays a part to height of box. then for height , it can only go up but so high (like 16 inches when your 10 inches from the rear due to some metal there but once you past that part, you can go upto 19 inches...

All that is from recollection. Im going to clean out my trunk tomorrow and can take some pics and measurements for you. But like I said, what kind of box you making and for what sized subs and if 1 or 2 subs??

Thankyou very much !!! I am building a sealed box with 2-12" subs facing down. I have built several and i am sure this will give me what I want and need. I will make it 34" wide, 10" high, and 13" deep. The feet will be about 2"x2"x2". I just needed the max width without any step, and max height under the rear deck speakers and the trunk lid springs.

it might be best if you make it 33. or 33.5 inches. For height, you can go higher than 10. I'll update tomorrow.

I am JD TL-S. I signed up my girlfriend Julie so she can checkout my Acura Forum. When I go to her house I can now use her computor. She has heard me talk ALOT about ACURAZINE in the past. The last 26 months I have been driving a LOADED 2SS/RS LS3 Camaro. But it went BYE BYE last week, VIA TOW-TRUCK But I am happy because I have a secret that should allow me to buy a 2007 WDP Type-S for cash in July 2012. I am just preparing for that day Thankyou very much

So I will go 33" wide. As far as height, I would LOVE to see some pics. I want to make the box as small as possible. I am sealing it and putting 3x the acousta stuff insulation inside the box. What that does is fools the woofers, so they act like they are in a much bigger box. A sealed box is -3db over a ported box, BUT sealed boxes are more acurate, controlled, and go lower in HZ. Plus I use to use my HIFONICS sub amp with only 1-12" DIAMOND sub, at 4 ohms the amp put out 900 watts RMS clean. With 2-12" DIAMOND subs I will be running 2 ohms and it puts out 1200 watts RMS clean.

I built my son a subwoofer with 2-12" Cheap Kenwood subs on this theory, and IT CRANKS !!!! And he is only running 500 watts RMS.

I need to know the MAX height I can go before I hit any trunk lid springs or anything else in the way.

Thanks again !!!!
ACURAZINE ROCKS and I really MISS MT TL. I didnt think I would say that on the day I tradded in my AWESOME MODDED 06 WDP NAV 6-SPEED TL on Sept 12, 2009. I was a fool for doing that.

GOD BLESS ALL and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

I think I will build the box 33" wide, 11" high with 2"x2"x2" feet so I can fire the woofers down, and I will put grills on them. This design ROCKS !!!! Plus the woofers wont get damaged. And anything can be put in the truck around the box. And 14" deep.

33"x14"x11" external.
31.5"x12.5"x9.5" = 3,740 cubic inches. Divide that by 1728(cubic inches in a cubic foot) and the box will be 2.17 cubic feet. With the 2 woofers in the box, it will be aprox 2.0 cubic feet. IT WILL CRANK !!!

I have owned 3 TL's Swoosh. Its not that big of a box. Could you please tell me if this box size will be OK ??? I went to several dealers today looking for a used 2004-2008 TL but couldnt find one.

One question. Since the Accord is basically the same car, would the truck of a 2007 4 door Accord be the same size ??? My girlfriends dad has one.

Thanks again

I wouldn't say sealed is more accurate than ported. Ported will have less excursion at the same SPL but it will usually require EQ to flatten the response.

I prefer not to use a box. Way less power required and less distortion.

Don't get caught up in comparing systems by how much power they take. Mine takes 1/3 of the typical sealed setup to produce the same SPL. Throw your subs in a larger box and the power requirements will drop.

JD, in the lower right hand corner of each post, the middle icon is a multi-quote button. This allows you to respond to more than one person in a single post.

Give it a try!

I wish I had a TL to make sure, I already marked measured and marked all the wood last night for a box 33" wide.

WOULD A 2007 4 DOOR HONDA ACCORD HAVE THE SAME WIDTH INSIDE THE TRUNK.

Thanks again for helping me. I will do that in an hour. We used her dads 2007 V6 Accord last night to pick my girlfriends sister up at Midway Airport in Chicago, and somebody left a light on inside it. I have to go over there soon to charge the battery, then I can measure the trunk.

GOD BLESS YOU

^^^ off topic but you can jump start the car and take it to Advanced Auto Parts....they will check ur battery/alternator/full electrical system out for you and advise if you need a new battery....

also you can use the code BATX online on Advanced Auto Parts to save 25% on the battery....I got their GOLD Autocraft in my girls Lexus, it was like 108 bucks....got it for 108-25%+tax....you can order online and say "pick up from store"....go there and get it done....

they also have some offers going on, for regular items....

The Accord trunk does seem a little bigger. But the TL is the same basic car underneath. I measered about 35 inches at the narrow spot behind the trunk. All good guys, Thankyou very much for the help.

Merry Christmas

Sounds about right^. And they have foldable rear seats, we do not. Our seats are actually used as part of the suspension/frame

The braces behind them are...

I found 15.5' for the '06 TL's trunk when I was researching my infinite baffle project and 14.0' for the '06 Accord... Now I'm finding only 12.5' for the TL. That would explain my need for venting the trunk with the pair of 15s to get the Qtc down a little.

Just trying to get the subs' response where I want it. They've always acted as if the Qtc is higher than it modeled out to be and now it looks like what I was hearing was correct. A bigger trunk equals a lower Qtc which equals a flatter response and less peakiness.

The braces attach the rear shelf to the backbone or whatever you want to call it. The seat is just foam and leather on a flimsy wire frame. These braces help in torsional rigidity. I've added them to cars that did not originally come with them, especially H frame cars and they always made a nice difference whether it's handling, noises, or comfort.

Bass box 6. Woofer tester for thiel-small parameters. Parts express sells everything you need to do it. And many books on design. Bass box 6 also comes with a book with all info on design and why and how.

I have used and known this stuff since the late 70's when I was a teenager.

While Christmas shopping yesterday I stopped in at an Acura dealer and measured a trunk. It looks like the flat spot on the trunk bottom by the back seat was 31" wide. So new Dimensions today. I start building sub box later today. One I figure out how to upload photo's on here, I will show you helpers my custom box.

GOD BLESS ALL

Thought I'd stick this in here and get any bites.

I have a box - dimensions 37" W x 19" H x 15" D I know I can fit it in the back seat but for this instance I am hoping to fit in in the trunk. Will this fit in the trunk? I'm guessing no because although the trunk is wider, the trunk opening is less wide.

It's not like the trunk size has changed since 2015 lol.

I'd rather a bump than a new thread. All the information is in one place instead of going through 4 different threads when searching through Google trying to piece things together.
