LMZ Low-Beam from vled? Anyone used?

Has anyone tried installing the vleds LMZ LED kit for their low beams?

D2S LMZ PLATINUM ULTRA OUTPUT LED HEADLIGHTS - D2S - Headlights - Shop Bulb Type

Says it is not for use with dust covers, and I know we have a cover, but not sure about fitment/heat issues.

I'm thinking I will get a set for the high beams. I'd like to upgrade the low's to it as well, but I'm just not sure about how it will fit.

I may have to just buy and return if nothing else.

If you're covering up the back end if the bulbs/heatsink then you'll suffocate the fan and those lights won't be long for this world.

I don't think they'll plug and play with the high beams. Since the TSX uses a low/high voltage switch to run the high beam as the DRL, then the LEDs won't run as DRL and will trip an error.

And why would you want to swap out the stock HID low beams for these? The TSX has one of the better HIDs available. It's one of the go to parts people get for retrofits. I doubt that subbing in these LEDs will improve the assembly.

Well, actually, high output LED systems put out more light than xenon setups do. No doubt what we have is good, but if there is a better part available I will certainly investigate it. I agree with you about the cover, which was my initial concern.

I think you're right about the high beams. I'm looking into other options. I know other members have had success adding a resistor.

Edit - You seem knowledgeable about the headlight setup; Do you know the voltage when the DRL is running?

If you do end up using these for the high beam, you can always pull the DRL fuse. You wont get an error that way. Considering that these leds dont work under 9 volts, you will have to pull that fuse anyway.

What about doing HID kit for the high beams? Does a relay harness fix DRL issues?

why would you use an HID kit for high beams though..?

DRL errors are fixed by resistors, relay harness will just provide the full 12V instead of 6V for DRLs.

It seems to me that the goal I am after is not apparent to folks: I want high beams that are more luminous than halogens.

Using either LED or HID bulbs would get me to that end goal.

I started researching HID kits to see if they had systems that would function correctly as DRLs as well.

Also, if you are wondering why I want brighter high beams, there are a couple reasons... 1.) I live in areas where there are high deer populations and do a fair amount of night driving. High beams get used frequently. 2.) I want to flash people who flash me when my high beams aren't on with something as blinding as their truck has.

Well with that said, yes you can install HIDs in your high beams. Just pull that DRL fuse after installing them. HID ballasts dont like 6 volts. No way to have DRL with HIDs installed.

Install HIDs
Pull DRL fuse

Its that simple

Now, with LED bulbs. Some leds can operation with 6v. Just depends on the bulb. If you dont care about the DRL, remove the fuse.
Either way, youre better off removing that fuse to make things simple.

Sounds like I won't be able to retain the DRL and upgrade the high beams.

Fair enough.

You can always find a custom solution for a DRL. Thats what I did with mine. I used a few 1 watt leds and put them next to my fogs. Much brighter then stock.

I saw your thread. It looks sharp. Probably more effort than I'm looking to put in though.

Likely I will get the LED kit and just yank the DRL fuse. Problem solved.

Let us know how those led bulbs work out for you. I'm interested in the outcome.
This thread got me thinking about beefing up the lumens of my high beam output. Always good to have extra bright lights.

Nope. Car is on the back burner right now. Have too many other projects going on, it's getting cold and the holidays are coming up.

I have used many v-led products before and they all worked great. I'm sure this kit works great. My original concern was using them as low beams, but I don't think it would be worth it to swap them out for a few more lumens. I will instead use them as high beams and pull my DRL fuse. Probably not incredibly soon however.
