Happy to hear your OK.
As long as you come away with something like "appreciate what you got, while you got it" , it's a life lesson.
I think you would have been better off with something like this:

Man, those hospital bills are rediculous sometimes. But if you talk to the billing office and fill out a whole bunch of paperwork and throw a hissy fit from time to time... it gets reduced ALOT...
Trust me, I've done it...

Kat,
Did you have medical insurance at last job before they fired you? If so, you may be eligible still under COBRA. I'm not an HR or Employee Benefits person but it still may be worth investigating. The premiums are usually pretty high but in your case, may be the lesser of two evils.
Do we have anyone here that knows COBRA regs? Contact your past employer and ask if you're still eligible to sign up for Medical. Doesn't hurt to ask. If you are, chances are that it's retroactive to when you left.
Good Luck.

I'm trying not to literally rub salt into the wounds, but:
1) riding a motorcycle = dangerous
2) riding a motorcycle as documented on these boards = idiotic
3) riding a motorcycle as documented on these boards without health insurance = irresponsible
4) surviving stated accident = hopefully a wake-up call to seriously contemplate said activities

He'll need some level of coverage for any future care he needs. If he's permanently disabled from these injuries he may have medicaid or medicare coverage available to him as well.

Well...theres the pics...you can see where the bike landed and then skidded, where all the marks are. i hit the concrete first, then flew into that grass/sand. Now you can see why i said i'm so lucky to be alive.

Lucky isn't the half of it. I would say you're Blessed.
You picked a good spot to go in. The downward slope combined with the grass and sand gave you a decent landing spot to bleed off that 40MPH of energy your body was carrying.
BTW, glad to hear that your bike days are over. Better on this bike than a Busa.
