Smilies...
I know I'm asking for something that hasn't gotten far in the past but just putting it out there...
there are many things that occur repeatedly on the site that deserve their own smiley....
Like talking about what Acura/Honda should be doing to get themselves back on track as a bonafide competitor (among many other topics that have been beaten to death) ...
Or, really old threads being revived ...
And our customary usage of suite in place of sweet on AZ ...
And my favorite, looking at a Porsche thread in Automotive Discussion and being overcome ...
I'll be fair and leave out the epic smileys that pertain to member related events.

Sly, if only I had the time. I have a collection of like 200 smilies to add to the site.
might need to contract a temporary smilie admin or something

^^^ You referring to the extra characters that appear after the smilie right?
If so, yea, I've been aware for a long time as to how to fix them and will address them little by little.

Yup. I know how to fix these, the mappings to the smilies simply need to be updated.
It's a catch 22 because for all those times people have corrected the typings for the smilies they wanted to use, like I have in the past, correcting the "code" for the smiley will break all previous uses where people corrected the typing of it, but it will fix it for future use.

I think he meant, "How do I enhance my awesome posts with teh smilies?"
Below the quick reply window is an "advanced" button. Go there. Then, on the right, are some common smilies. Just click one and it'll show up in your post. If you need a bigger selection click the "more" link and choose from any of those.
Also if you know the 'code' for your smiley, just type that between two colons. Like so, :smileycode: ....
:bandito : --> no space = .

Safety Car
that's a "doh", it's more of a smack your own head because you didn't get something, facepalm is directed more at other people when they don't get something.
does that make sense?
Kind of hard to explain, but the difference to me is,
is self fail, is other persons fail
