Owner's Manual questions

My ZDX is missing the leather (faux?) folder that the owner's manual goes in. Searching around ebay turns up a handful of 2010 sets (books and folder), but I was wondering if the MDX folder is the same. Anyone know?

Also, it looks like there are some other miscellaneous booklets that come in the full kit (warranty, Advanced Technology Guide, ...), at least for the 2010 model. Are these the same as 2012 and/or worth trying to track down?

Thanks!

the owners manual teaches you tips and tricks of the car.

it's not neccesary to track one of these down when all the information is online at

Yup, I definitely use the soft version most of the time. Honestly, I was just hoping to pick up a cover/folder to stop the manuals from sliding around in the glove compartment... Of course there are plenty of ways to do that WITHOUT the folder, too

I find the already small glove box too crowded for the manuals. I keep mine in the compartment under the rear floor.

I suspect mine will fill up quickly, too. I still have a bag of stuff from my previous car that I haven't transferred over yet. Thanks for the tip!

I downloaded the PDF version for all three of my Acuras and placed on my Dropbox account. I can search from any internet device (iPhone, iPad, work/home computer) as long as I have wireless/3G/4G service. The manuals were taking too much room in glove boxes. There are free apps you can upload the pdf on your smartphone if you have poor coverage for the internet version.

What an excellent idea. I never thought to do that.

Has anyone tried to remove the divider/shelf in the glove compartment? It looks like it should just pop out (no screws or plastic push-nails obvious). I got used to storing larger items there in my last car, that won't fit now, but don't want to do irreversible damage trying to pry it out if it is fixed in place.

Turns out, you have to pop the shelf out to access the cabin filter. I am wondering though, whether it needs to be in place to air-seal the filter cassette box? The RDZ/MDX has a separate cover between the shelf and the filter box, while the ZDX cover & shelf are a single/integral unit. The cassette door has sealer/foamed edges, so the airflow through the filter won't be affected. But, with the shelf removed, a lot of the air that would normally be pulled through the dashboard ducting will now come through the glove box. Likely won't matter much, as the whole point is to merely recirculate cabin air through the filter, though the airflow path is probably factory engineered for maximum total space cleaning/efficiency.
Wasn't all that long ago when the very idea of cabin air cleaning was unheard of, and flow-through ventilation with fresh outside air was considered preferable to breathing stale cabin air polluted with volatile/carcinogenic solvents exuding from all the plastic/vinyl interior components. Go figure.
Regardless, cutting the shelf off of the integral unit would sure make removing the cover more difficult, so that option would require the addition of some kind of drawer-pull/handle, plus the shelf could likely never be reattached/made original again, should that be desired in future.
