how do you replace the taillight bulbs

this is one of the most tricky things with the Z
you gotta open the trunk, remove the small plastic cover on the edge of tail light and unscrew two screws (thats the easy part)
the hard part is to pull out the tail light. owners manual describes this as if its easy, but its not
I use a piece of thread, push it under the outer edge of the tail light, move the thread back and forth so it goes deeply under the plastic, and then pull the thread carefully but forcefully straight out

I tried this...not really working...any other suggestions? I tried levering it with a cloth wrapped thin spanner...sort of scratch the paint at the corner a little, but still did not come out.
