Hi everybody I just got a used ILX 2014 and the specified tires are 215 45 R17 my question is: can I go to 215 50 R17 it is just a little bit higher without compromising the TPS Tire pressure system and any other system like VSA. streets on my city are no so good and want to reduce the risk of RIM damage and if possible reduce the dry sound of a low profile tire.

the diameter variance will be over 3%, which will cause your speedometer to be slower by over 3%.
not to mention a funny looking disproportional tire to fender ratio

Another option is to go with a 225/45-17 size tire. You'll get a lot more tire models to choose from too.
For example, on Tire Rack there are 91 tires that are 215/45-17 , there are 61 tires that are 215/50-17 , but there are 162 tires that are 225/45-17.
The 225/45-17 size is only 1.4% larger than your 215/45-17 size vs the 3.4% larger size of the 215/50-17 size. It's recommended to stay under 3% difference.
The 205/50-17 size ILXDyna suggested would work too. It's 1.8% larger than 215/45-17 and Tire Rack has 90 models to choose from.

Why the finger wag? I always try to go narrower in the winter as it cuts through the snow better up here in Canada
dont put too much weight into emoticons.

ILX can fit 215/50 R17 without any issues. The ride is much more comfortable and they look much nicer than tiny 215/45 on a car.
If you are into a sharp and fast driving on highways, don’t change the size. But if you are a city driver or need winter tires: 215/50 R17 will be perfect fit.
