The 2016 Acura ILX is my first car purchase, and as a result I'd like to spice it up a bit. I know i could get creative and go with my own style, but I really like the way the Vossen CVT wheels looked on the new 2016 ILX:
I am pretty sure, but correct me if I'm wrong, they lowered the car. If so, since I'm not a mechanic or even know a tad bit about modification of cars, how much do you guys think they lowered it by, and what would I be looking at cost wise to get it done, along with the rims and tire replacement?
I did read into it and I am aware of the changes on the car's ride it will make if I switch out the original wheels, but there are so many ways to lower a car and I'd like to know your recommendation.
I will be installing the aero kit all around the car and also adding the decklit spoiler along with the LED fog lights and a chrome sidedoor trim. I have the Tech Plus Package without A-Spec.
I assume they went with coilovers for that if so, then the coils, new tires and wheels your prob looking at 4-5k range. prob around 2-2.25 inches lowered id say.
That setup makes the ILX look fuckn sweeeet. Love that colour too
Sickest's guestimate is probably pretty close on both tires/wheels and how low. Coilovers would probably be in the $1200 range + $2000 at least for brand new 19in Vossens + $500-700 tires with mounting... we'll say $700 to include new lug nuts and rings if you need them as well swapping TPMS sensors over.
IMO 5k is a lot to throw down on a brand new car but if you got the cash then def worth it. but since your in Cali and don't have winters you could prob just sell the "OLD" suspension/wheels/tires and recover some of that coin

OP, the most important mod you can do to your car is a good set of tires. You don't necessarily have to buy the best and most expensive, but for 19" tires at $500, you'd be getting the shittiest tires imaginable. Don't put your life on the line because of shitty tires.

110% agreed. ALWAYS keep your stock parts. Eventually you'll sell your car and by having the stock parts, you open yourself to a wider range of buyers. Not everyone wants aftermarket wheels and suspension. And even those who do want aftermarket wheels and suspension, there's a small chance that they want the same brands you chose.
I think it can help you now a bit, financially, but eventually you'll lose out a bit also.

Around here, good 19" tires go for $450-550 EACH.
My bad. I threw out the prices i was seeing for 18s. I paid about 500 for 18in falken ziex.
thats true about the stock parts. I personally tend to keep my cars for a long time. and yea good 19'' tires in Canada anyway are def 350 a pop minimum.
When I gave the prices I gave I had 18in tires in mind.
But looking at discount tires I saw a few sizes for less than 300.
Some Pirelli for like 240 and Bridgestones were less than 200 I believe. I just quick searched 245 45 I think so not sure if thats just an odd size or not.
As mentioned before, it's alot of money to be putting down but I think its definitely worth it if you want to spice up the car. I'm curious to see what it looks like after the changes especially with the non aspec spoiler. Keep us posted with pictures!
I suggest keeping the stock wheels and put some winter tires on it or keep one in the trunk for emergencies. I think its better to have a spare than rely on the kit that acura provides.
