Planned Mods for the ILX
Hey all
In preparation for the spring of 2013, and how much fun we are all going to be having with our cars, I thought that I would create a new thread to talk about current, and planned mods for the ILX. We can share ideas, feedback, and help the community out. I have seen a couple posts about how dynamating the car will help a bit with the road noise (one of my only headaches with the car). This is what I currently have planned;
Current
- rear spoiler (dealer install, had to special order the tool to install the new springs for the trunk)
Near future
- window tints (In NJ it is only legal to tint the rear, and the back passenger windows)
- adding sound dampener material (fatmat, dynamat, still looking)
Long term
- CT supercharger
- CT rear sway bar

Though I wouldn't call it a mod..
Current:
32% window tint all around
Near Future:
- Dynamat (still too cold to install, and by too cold I don't mean for my sissy body.. for the Dynamat!).. I'll be doing a write up, I have already gotten all the pictures for how-to remove the door panel.
- Coilover Kit (looking for a mild drop until more parts get released to correct camber)
- Front & Rear Sway Bar
- OEM Spoiler (accessory version)
Further out:
- Ultimate Racings 3" downpipe
- Waiting for GReddy to come out with a 3" exhaust (coupe only out right now)
- 18" Wheels
- Comptech S/C (I wish the MID would show boost!)
**I am really hoping an aftermarket company releases some attractive window covers, like the Mugen ones for Civic. And, I am still debating on wether I like the lip kit or not.

I am a DIY guy. I may do write-ups for everything, even though I have less than average writing skills.. I can probably have my girlfriend be my editor and photographer though.. she is really good at that stuff.

Do you know how much the 18" gunmetal TL A-Spec Wheels go for (new) at Acura? Might be interested myself.

Wife and I are debating between the Mercedes C300 4Matic (What I originally wanted) and a Lexus IS250 AWD. She still likes the paddle shifters, and I want something AWD for the winter seasons in Nebraska.
Second Skin Spectrum is similar to an undercoating. So by spraying the inside of the wheel liners/wells you don't see the sound deadener and it eliminates a big chunk of tire howl and road noise in the cabin area.

I assume you can't spray it yourself without equipment?

I'd say more for the 2G TSX which was $4000, now figure in if they try to make money back on the revised parts.
Who knows 'til it releases though, officially. I am excited either way. (Of course it would be more to my liking if the price was $3000 though!)

thanks! I'm still getting used to it, but I think I like the look so far. I just hate the look of chrome! reminds me of old people or 24 inch rims on cars/trucks.

Removal of fog lights is part of your owners manual. Check the lights section.

I bought mine off of
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Product-Cat.../Car-Truck-SUV
the floor lighting under the dash, you will need 2 pieces of the T5-B8.5, 1 x 5050 SMD
for the Trunk and license plate bulbs, you will need the "194 LED, 6 x 5630 SMD". You need 2 for license plate and 1 for trunk.

I converted my Fogs to H9 bulbs in yellow (3300K).
H11 bulbs that come stock in the ILX are pitiful. H9's give a much higher output and you can actually tell your fogs are on without looking at the dash.

Say T5-B8.5 is for the lights at the footwells under each side. What is the 1x5050 SMD for?
Do you know which ones would go in the reverse lights?
The rear dome light?
Sorry, I just want to be clear so I choose matching colors-ect.. and your choices obviously worked out.
