Not happy with my ILX

As some of you see some of my thread, you probably can tell I’m not really happy with my 2016 ILX. This is second car I bought and paid on my own. My first ever car own and paid by me was the 2003 Acura RSX-S. OMG, I love that car. I should never trade her for this current car I have. But the car was having one problem after another every other months, so I was sick of paying money for parts and labors fixing it. Plus it’s time consuming when I do the repair myself. Wasted so many Saturdays when I could be doing something else.

Performance wise, I like everything about it. Is it an upgrade from my mildly modified RSX-S? No.

The problem I have is comfort. My left leg can never fully rest well. The head and legroom are added to the uncomfortable factor. The seat height are adjusted at the lowest setting. Only one inch of space from my head to the ceiling. With that adjustment, now my knees are bend inside more than 45 degree. They basically fully folded in. So I have to spread my legs sideway out with both feet sitting on its outer sides. Guess what now, there’s not that much space on the side. It’s really annoying and frustrating. I always get leg cramps, it will go to sleep and you get that tingly sensation. When I make a fast turn, the left foot have no support and would float/dangling, I tried resting on the dead pedal but seat sitting angle makes it uncomfortable.

So with that said, I cant afford the V6 2015+ TLX. For the people who owns the 4 cylinders TLX, how you guys liking it? Is it any better than the ILX in term of performance?

go test drive the four cylinder TLX!

i bet if you test drove the ILX for an extended period of time, you would have found out that it is not the car for you.
DO THE SAME WITH THE TLX, go for a test drive!!!!!!!

or else you are setting yourself up for failure by asking others about your personal requirements of a car.

are others going to pay the car note???
it doesnt matter what I or others think!

its what you think and what you are comfortable with.
what happens if the TLX bros tell you its a great car but then you end up with the same knee/leg problems???

the question you posed, only you can answer by test driving the four cylinder TLX to compare it to your ILX

Or the Civic since it did get wider. Test drives are fun.. Just annoying when they try to keep you around.

Wish you hadn't sold your RSX-S? Cant afford the V6 TLX, but thinks the I4 TLX might not have enough performance?

Solution: Buy a 2016/2017 Honda Accord V6 6MT coupe and put the fun back in your life.
  • As fast as, if not faster than the V6 TLX.
  • Way way faster than the I4 TLX.
  • Less than the I4 TLX.
  • A lot less than the V6 TLX.
  • Has more tech than the TLX

Definitely you should consider other option as earlier as possible.

i regret trading in my 04rsx-s last month for 2017 ilx because its coupe with mild mods making me happy; however it doesnt mean i HATE ilx. Its a pretty quick car and fit my small family's needs. I am not a tall guy so i have no issue with the interior room at all. I just need few modification to make ilx better handling and look. I can live with it for years till i get an used spirit machine like civic type r.

if it bothers you and the way you drive, you will need to make the switch right away. Ttlx or accord are better options.

I tried a 16 ILX (not sure about the trim) today . it's fast and the brake was more responsive than my 17 MDX. The only thing about it was that the engine was noisy. Not sure if it's because people put cheap gas into it since it's a loaner car. Other than this, I think it's a decent car with just enough features. It drives no worse than my 07 TSX.

If you're getting TLX, make sure you would get one with SHAWD only.

Getting out of an RSX to an ILX probably lessens the fun factor going from a 2-door sporty hatch to a 4 door wanna be sports sedan. If the main thing is the leg issue, it's time to get a vehicle that fits your needs. I would think about a different option since that seems to be a major problem, or find a foot rest maybe online to see if that would help you? Sounds like your seating position is very uncomfortable, maybe try a diff combo of the steering wheel and tilt?

LOL kind of imposing there, no?
He should get what ever he is comfortable with in terms of ergonomics(knee problem), ride and comfort, and budget.
ya know...his personal choices....

TLX user

I'm from the TLX forum, just looking around and saw this thread, based on your post, I would think TLX and maybe RLX would be a good fit for you, you are probably 6ft+?
I considered the ILX, but all the sales people around me and friends tell me, if comfort is my ultimate goal, TLX is the way to go. RLX won't fit in my garage, so I didn't even look into it.
I went with a used 2015 TLX fully loaded minus SH AWD, for a commuter car it serves it purpose. It's not a sports car and is not meant to be. The main difference between I4 and v6 IMO is I4 probably drives smoother and accelerates slower though. V6 accelerates faster, but the nose feels a bit heavy, of course it's a heavier car.

I bought my 2015 TLX near ILX prices since it was a loaner car and it has been in the dealership for 2 years. 2015 are not popular since they had 2 recalls already, but I still got it since they are reliable and most issues were addressed. If you are interested take a peak at the TLX forum, most are complaints though, but at least you'll understand what you are getting into beforehand.
