How can i save cds to the hard drive tech pack?
1st of all im old lol. I have i pod but the usb has error msg. I put in a cd and it got saved to the internal hd. Dont know hth. It is a cd in mp3 format though. I put in regular cds and they do not get saved. Or maybe they are but i dont know how to pull them up. The cd that did get saved come up under HDD mode on the display screen. Any ideas on how or if its possible to save regular cds to the hard drive. I have 2013 tech pack so it has a 15gig hd. Please lmk if any1 has a solution other then buying a new ipod. Thanks

Technically, CDs (Compact Discs) are just a storage medium. They can hold many different types of files including music as .mp3s or photos as .jpegs etc. However, a traditional music CD stores the files on the disc with a different file standard called CDA. This is so that all CD players can recognize the disc as a music CD (called the redbook standard). When you put a store bought CD in the disc, the default operation is to begin playback and record the contents to the internal hard disc drive HDD. These recordings are saved as new (smaller file sized) .mp3s. You can access this by selecting HDD as the source. You cannot transfer (copy) .mp3s from a CD (or any medium such as USB or iPod) to the internal HDD.
