Acura Teases 2016 ILX with "Substantial Changes" Ahead of LA
Launched in 2012 as a 2013 model, the Honda Civic-based Acura ILX compact sedan is gearing up for some “big changes” at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
At least that’s what Acura says in the statement accompanying a teaser photo of the 2016 ILX. Honda’s luxury arm says the 2016 ILX will be substantially new, gaining “a potent new powertrain, more forceful, sporty exterior styling, and substantially upgraded interior design.”
In terms of design though, the teaser photo doesn’t reveal any radical changes. The only obvious upgrade at the rear of the car is the different arrangement of the light clusters, with the taillights possibly getting LED technology. However, more changes may be operated at the front end of the car.
Acura also says the 2016 ILX will deliver sharper performance as well as more comfort, convenience and safety features. The 2016 Acura ILX will debut on November 20 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Yeah...be careful guys! I am not sold on the DCT yet....The TLX has had some issues with the I4 and the V6 so both trannies are showing some little quirks that need to be worked out. As long as the manual is still availble, then I am OK!

^^^I agree it will be the 2.4 and 8DCT, and I thought someone posted a document of Acura's product plans indicating this, but I can't recall where. I don't see why they would detune the 2.4 at all. It was the same as the TSX before, so it will probably be the same as the TLX now.
I'm still not ready to give up MT, but the size of the ILX is perfect for me, so the 2.4 with 8DCT could be tempting -- provided the ILX's cabin noise, vague steering, and sloppy suspension are addressed. I wonder whether Acura will give the ILX more TLX DNA on these issues, such as the insulating foam to reduce road noise.

....well, after test driving a Lexus IS 350 F Sport, I can pretty much say with certainty that it is game over for Acura at the moment....I will keep the g/f's ILX but I now know what my next toy will be.

I think it looks great... I like the old powertrain of the 2.4 and manual, so hopefully that will still be available, although I highly doubt it. But the rest of the car should be great, and with their emphasis on sport, it could really work! (ILX doesn't compete with the Lexus IS, that's the TLX's job. The ILX competes most closely with the Audi A3, Buick Verano [yuck!], and Mercedes CLA. The ILX is more of a CT200h competitor, although it's very different)

Went on-line and configured an I350 F-Sport with series 3 package, AWD with the 18' sports wheels and the sport exhaust as options at $66,347.67 (Canadian dollars, with all taxes). I am sure its a great car. But at that amount I can get a used 911 and really have a good time!
(sorry for the off topic post... anxiously awaiting the turbo 4 banger 9 DCT SHAWD ILX, rocket trim please, hold the sidewinders )

Looks normal to me.
With the right angle the front end can be made to look very wide.
Also the "smoke" gives the car a lower to the ground look which also makes it look wider.
My ILX looks pretty wide right there. Just matters with the angle.
Im in love with those head lights. And that front doesnt look bad at all. I was worried it would look more like a civic.
Though I do like my front end more already.
On this new one the air dams are not as wide, making the nose/point look larger but they are taller so there is less bulk between the dams and headlights.
I feel this looks more aggressive and I like the sleeker look.
Those headlights are a must have though. Grill Im on the fence.

Well it looks more like a rendering then an actual picture, at least to me. But probably accurate. Can we confirm its ACTUALLY a pic? Looks good. Old/current grill looks better. Stance is probably because of wider and bigger wheels. Nice. Hmmm ONLY DCT? So could Acura be going all auto? Wouldn't be the first to do so, although many things on this car will be nice,r the stick shift in my car will make it a bit of prize to me, give me a reason to hang onto it for as long as possible. Although really, i don't see stick ever going fully away. just more rare. But hey, who knows right?
