Has anybody done a stage 1 exhaust ?
Hi guys i am debating on doing a stage 1 exhaust on my v6 TLX which i heard is a mid-muffler delete ? Has anybody done it ? I really just want a deeper tone or something more noticeable but not be a honda fart cannon like i want a stock sounding like a g35 or something like that. Or resonator delete ? My car is too quiet ! Sometimes i even forget its even on haha please let me know ! Thank u

first, the naming convention of the stage mods is something the 3rd gen TL'ers made up to help clear up and make known different sounds.
2nd, Acura's WILL NEVER SOUND LIKE G35's or any type of nissan.
why? there are SEVERAL factors, including firing order, the shape of the exhaust manifold, the length of piping and so on and so on...
3rd, if you truely wish to do this, head to an exhaust shop and have them cut out the little tiny mid-muffler, if the TLX even has one..
4th, it's a freakin honda...if you mess with the exhaust, IT WILL SOUND like a fart cannon.

it is difficult to describe sounds.
Did you have a TL, because otherwise you wouldnt have known about the stage mods.
If you have the v6 TLX, it has the same exact engine in it as the TL.
so, it will sound the same as the TL with a mid-muffler delete. visit youtube.com to hear it.

I could be completely out to lunch on this, but you might be able to just pull the fuse for the ANC mic. Might be worth looking into.

I am really curious on this topic and I want some feedback:
Yes or No on a Cat-Back exhaust system for the TLX? (Key Point: keep the same design as OEM, not cutting or modifying the rear bumper for exposed exhaust tips)
If yes, what is the key element(s) you will be expecting? (Stay with the Key Point)
If no, why not?

Yes ! Because currently how the car is its a bit too quiet you can say it would be a bit nice to tone the car up ! But something that has a deep tone would be nice because its still a luxury car ! For example like a infinity like i was saying above !And not having the hassle of modding the bumper would be nice 👌🏼

Thank guys but a little update is I ended up doing both resonator deletes ! With 3" piping and it's the best decision ! It sounds amazing ! Under 2k u sound stock but after u open up its has a very deep tone to it and I love it !

xjdmchino and advan, please post pics and videos of how it sounds. I would like to do something similar as well but haven't had much time to research and try it yet.

It actually sounds better in person than this video
Setup: 2.5" piping, 2.5" Megan resonator and a single Borla pro xs muffler. Very deep sound but it was a bit drony for my liking. I added a vibrant ultra quiet resonator which took care of the drone (video above) It has a deep rumble and sounds great WOT.

Not sure I'd want to pull a fuse for the ANC, it might affect other systems. In terms of a quality sounding exhaust your best bet is a full catback that has all the piping, mufflers, and resonators designed to work specifically with each other. Not sure I like the done of the Borla setup above. Definitely sounds like there's some drone there too.

Since there is no cat back available yet, this will have to do for now.
