Post Winter Tires

Hi guys. Want to change my 19" factory summer wheels and tires to winter tires. I'm driving 2012 Acura TL 3.7 Advance Package. Anybody have experience to put 17' or 18' wheels on it instead of original 19'?

Would like to put 17' wheels and tires just because they are much cheaper. Don't know if I can do that because of the large factory brakes

Thanks

Why not just get the factory 18"? Re-manufactured one for $180 - $15 Cyber Monday special. Then, you will need TPM + tires...

yes you can go with 17" wheels! You can find many 17" wheels with the proper offset to make sure that it clears the brake calipers!

I am using cheap junk rims for the winter that are 17inch and I have 19 inch stock. Being doing it for 3 years. Tirerack is a good starting point possible CarID for other rim options

A second set of wheels with winter tires is a great idea and eases changeover. We are a Michelin distributor and the X-ice is a great tire and reasonably priced.

Feel free to contact me here or directly via phone/email and we can put together a package for you.

Regards,

Justin

I am new to this site. Just got a 2010 TL SH-AWD. Looking at doing the same thing. Going from 18" to 17" for the winter. I have heard the 17" honda pilot & ridgeline wheels fit the 4gen tl. Is this accurate? Thanks for your time

Yes definitely check tire rack. You can get 17" alloys with center spacer and lug nuts. Cheapest I have found was $400. Then once you add TPMS & shipping your at $620.

The TL brakes have a cooling vent and one other addition. The calipers are the same as the base TL. Unless you have a caliper upgrade. The RL brakes are bigger than the TL. Hope this helps.

I am running Michelin X-Ice Xi3 (cause they had a mile warranty ) and other car (non Acura)has Blizzak DM-V2 . I am sure W80 are a excellent snow and ice tire. Heck I would have bought if the price would have worked out

Yep, I've been running 225/55/17 WS 80s on cheap TireRack 17's since last winter, and they're great.

Dry/wet traction is perfectly fine, road noise at highway speeds isn't very noticeable, and snow/ice traction is as good as you'd expect. My town is horrible at plowing the side residential streets, so when we were hit with a 3ft blizzard last year, it took the town at least a week before my road was even touched. SH-AWD + WS80s had me rolling over 3in solid sheets of ice and snow down my entire street with no problems.

And to answer the OP, yeah, 17's clear the calipers without a problem
