Continental Tire

All,

Looking for some suggestions with Continental Tire.

I've been a Michelin customer for years however they dont seem to last long with conservative driving (even in a TL lol)

Someone directed me to look into Continental Tire. . . .http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....logy%20Package

Thoughts? The wear rating looks good and the warranty looks great too.
Im open to suggestion. I drive about 15-18k / year
Thanks!

Nice, quiet and comfortable tire with good longevity and winter traction (for an all season). It does suffer a bit like the DWS from a softer sidewall though.

That tire is not as quiet as you would like to believe. We have them on my wife's ES350 and they are noisier than the DWS on my daughter's Accord. Otherwise they have done everything we have asked/expected of them in the 21K we have had them on so far.

Get the Continental DWS-06. It's a much better tire that costs less and delivers better performance and longevity. You'll stop faster and you'll have a much quieter and comfortable ride.

Thanks for the replies.

Whats the story on the soft sidewalls? Are they prone to damaging rims? I've had three rims repaired on mine with the michelin oem.

The softer sidewall refers to the tire's tendency/characteristic of rolling over vs. fertile stability when pushed into long sweeping turns or when pushed heavily on tighter turns. If you aren't an aggressive driver or don't really push your car this may not mean much to you.
Really has nothing to do with rim protection. As csmeance mentions above the DWS06 is the latest generation of the DWS with improvements to sidewall stiffness.

I plan on ordering the DWS-06 within the month, gotta get new tires before winter. The Original Michelins are probably the worst tires I've ever had on a car, how the heck do they go for $240 a tire!!

"fertile stability" stung by autocorrect. I typed vertical stability

Ah yes, the trade off between superior handling and tread wear. I know and experience this as well with my Michelin PSS and prior Summer rubber. You gotta pay to play........

I have about 3,000 miles on the DWS06. No complaints. Getting them checked tomorrow in fact. I drive enthusiastically but have yet to be able to really push the car through the turns and corners with these tires. I'll post tomorrow after the 3K inspection about how they are wearing.

I'd so love to get this car on closed road course...

I have about 4,000 miles on the DWS06. I am disappointed in them. They ride rough over 70 MPH on certain roads--kind of feels like driving on gravel. I thought it was a balance issue but I have had them balanced twice and that did not help. They squeal sooner than the OEM Michelins did when pushed around turns. The tread appears deeper and more aggressive than the Michelins, which should help in the snow, but I have snow tires.

Got the Continental DWS06 back in Aug and they are much better than the crap GY Eagle tires that came with my 19in Adv package.

So far they ride quieter than the Eagles but seems like turn in is a bit slower...
