Keyfob battery running low

Hi All:
I am getting a flashing indicator on my TL that its time to replace my Keyfob battery. I have a 2012 Tech. What happens if the Keyfob dies while I am driving ?
Being its pushbutton I am just wondering.
Also is there a diagram on replacing the battery ? Im pretty sure these are just watch batteries.

thx in advance.

It's in the user manual, but if it's low (dead low), you should be able to actually insert the fob into the slot to start the car and be good. If the fob dies while the car is currently driving though, the vehicle does not turn off, you just would be unable to restart the car if you stop it.

In terms of the actual replacement -

To replace the CR 2032 key remote battery.........Replace the battery if necessary.
To replace the battery:
Replace the old battery with a new battery. Place the battery so the side is facing up. Snap the two halves of the remote case back together. Remove the built-in key(seepage ). Place a cloth on the edge to prevent scratches, then remove the upper half by carefully prying on the edge with a coin.

And put the keyless remote into the keyless access remote slot while driving if the battery is weak. You can take it out when you have turned off the engine.

An easier way I found was to remove the built in key and use a coin to pry the two halves apart. A penny fits in the spot where the key slides in perfectly. Just twist the penny so the two haves split. Then be gentle and pull the two pieces apart with your fingers.

This also avoids potentially scratching the cheap chrome finish on the fob!

Looks like I'll be replacing my battery too. My light just came on yesterday indicating that the battery was low. Coincidentally, I placed my finger in the key fob slot on the dash and the warning lights turned off. I'll keep doing that until I find time to go by the store to pick up a new battery in the next day or two.

It's actually the hole NEXT to where the key slides in. Thank you though. This makes it even easier to take apart.

Just an FYI guys, never have the dealer replace this for you. They want 5 dollars to replace it and that gives you ONE battery. You can buy 5 batteries for 5 or 6 dollars and replace it yourself, which is what I did.

A dealership sales guy tried to tell me to charge my key fob in the key fob slot. I don't go there any more. I even reported him to the manager. It's one thing to be sleazy and bend the truth. But this guy...

I don't know if that would be considered sleazy. Just dumb.

Exactly. There are likely those who would actually listen to this guy just so he could save 5 minutes and a dollar.
