To tint or not to tint

I have a dark grey 2012 tl and am trying to decide if I want to tint. If I do I will go very light no more than 50 pct. does anyone have a dark grey elite with tints and if so will you post some pics?

Here is a sample of what I have exactly.

i say tint. for whatever reason i waited 6yrs to tint my TL...then asked myself why did i wait so freaking long for???

i dont' have a 4G, but i do have a gray 3G. i've now decided i hate the fish bowl look. i have tint on my MDX front windows too (that's gray as well).

Why wouldn't you? Not only does it look good, it's beneficial. I say tint.

Tinting is a no brainer. Go a little darker.

I have a bit of a history with this stuff. I'm a big believer that certain cars suit it more than others and have added it only to take it off more than once (however that was on much more family oriented cars - my loveless affair with the trusty Honda accord). Since then once bitten twice shy I guess. The tl for me was not a style winner until 2012, it grew on me year after year but the ass and beak changes pushed me over this year and bc I was iffy on styling earlier I'm a little over cautious.

All that said, post some pics if u got em.

I've been there done that as well. Years ago I was tint crazy. Had my wife's white 92 Maxima windows tinted 20% and the front windows on my 89 GMC Jimmy tinted 20%.
Then had children and the 03 Maxima (no tint) 97 4Runner (no tint.
Now when we bought my wife's 2010 DWP TL went with 40% conservative and my 2011 4Runner had the front windows tinted 35%.
Going 50% is not worth doing at all imo. I went 40% on my wife's TL because it keeps the cops at bay and she's a banker (conservative). The only reason I went 35% on my new 4Runner was because it matched better with the back windows which I think are tinted like 20% from the factory.
You can see my wife's TL as my avatar. Good luck and show us the results when it's done.

These cars look more "complete" with a tint. I consider it the first mod for a TL.

Prior to having my Tl tinted the last car i had tinted was in 1989 and i promised myself that i would not tint any other car and i have had several since then without, well that all changed when i purchased the Tl.
Tints come in varying quality and i choose 35% Formula One Pinnicle ceramic tint, could'nt be happier with it,what amazes me most is the clarity especially at night,do some research on various brands and then make your choice.

I think what I hate most about rentals is being in a car without tints; makes me feel like I have no privacy in my vehicle. Def need a tint.

Another plug for the Formula One Pinnacle ceramic tint film. Have had it one my previous 2005 TL and 2006 RL and as KarKraze states, the clarity is impressive (I have been told that it is 99% optically clear).

I had to get tint ASAP. I couldn't let my umber get abused by the sun especially with summer coming up soon.

Basically any percentage tint would pop on your color car especially if it has black interior. It really depends on your local law enforcement and how strict they are with their tint laws. Going with 40% you would be safe. With 35% you take your chances and 50% is really not worth it.

Definitely worth tinting! Looks much better, but not sure I'd waste my time with 50%.

Looks like your decision has been made. For me, tint should go on the day the car rolls off the dealer's lot.
