I was wondering if TL owners would be interested in posting pictures of their tinted car and specify what percentage and type of tint they used and why,it might be helpful to other owners considering whether to have their car done or not,i will start by posting mine,i used Formula 1 Pinnacle 30 ceramic tint because it is not a dyed film so it is guaranteed not to fade,it has superior heat reduction,amazing clarity at night and does not interfere with the electronics,i am sure that there are other tints just as good or even better so lets hear from others

The more I see Mayan bronze the more I like it.




35% on both driver/passenger windows and 20% rear window on an ebony interior. A lot of people think it's much darker than that, /shrug.

Huper Optik ESC 35








It is a very unique tint that changes characteristics based on lighting, and the angle of which you are looking at the car. IMO it suits the TL very well.

20% 3M, I forgot what it was called. All I wanted tint for was so that people can't see me picking my nose.

Not really sure, the dealer tinted mine for free....but I asked for the darkest. For Texas that would be 25%

I got mines done from the Pakistani dudes in Brooklyn - not sure what the name of the brand is, but I did 20% at the rear and 35% in the front.

Few months ago I posted in one of your threads something along the lines of, I don't like Mayan bronze because Mercedes uses a similar dark red wine color and you'll usually see a senior citizen driving a car with that color.

But after looking at it more and more I realize how awesome a color it is; it's different in every light, nothing like the Merc one and the flakes in the paint have a great shine.

I dont know really remember what kind of tint they used when I did my car 2 years ago. But its 5% all around. I'm getting the tint replaced next week for lighter 30% 3M tint. These pics were taken before I detailed it.

I got them this dark because it kinda went with the whole theme of the car......and I like to pick my nose like Nexson said.......and sing at the top of my lungs.

damn looking at everyone with dark ass tint makes me jelly. I wanted to go darker but in my neighborhood cops love to stop you for just tinted windows... I would love to go 20% but here are my 35%. They look much darker at night tho *shrugs*

IT's crazy how some 35% look so much darker than others, I wonder if its just the lighting/camera?

It means there are at least two people who can't tell the difference between Mayan Bronze and your Basque Red

Also ... I'd post pics of my 35% tint, but the local Evil Knievel gave me a fix-it ticket one cloudy Sunday afternoon about a month or so ago

also depends on interior colour. dark interiors make the tinting look darker from the outside.

I wanna get 30%, but i think my tint guy only has 35%. gahh still need to get my tints done...

It's Solar Guard...they have 30%....my2010 had 3M 35%...I like this better

Just the color...it a wee bit darker, but not illegally so..well, it's all illegal, but not blatantly so. It's very clear, no visibility issues. The same shop who did this car did my 2010....the biggest difference is the back window at night. The 3m was blurry to me...but there were no bubbles that i could see...so I chalked it up to the film

Yes 20 x 9 all around. On the fense about a drop, just because of winter. Wheels are coming off the end of the month anyway.

not too bad. Sometimes it can be a little dark at night but i'm used to it from having tint for so many years.

there is a sale on right now for tint @ a local shop. Went 35% all around with Solarguard Charcoal.
lifetime warranty on labour and tints.

15% all around is best for the car IMO..

i can still see at night, and just dark enough so people cant see me.

I got the huper optik ESC 45 and think is too dark sometimes but my interior is ebony. Here's the photos from different angle. To those that have the huper optik tint is this normal.
