I'm just curious but if you would have done it again would you have gone with a larger subwoofer? or is the 10w7 sufficient?

Thanks! Do you remember where you ordered it, or was it done by a shop?

No. The 10W7 is sufficient for my taste.

Thanks. Considering replacing the JL HD 900-5 with the JL HD 750-1. I want more power to my sub and I'm probably replacing the front speakers with a set of Focal Utopias. The Utopias I'm looking at cannot be bi-amped.

new to the 4g world. Nice clean setup man. I love it. I just got my 4g tl and im wanted to do some simple upgrades (sub box, amp and some voice) one question I have is where did you feed the power wires through in the firewall? I can't find any holes would really help me out. Also is the stock amp the small box mounted behind the rear seats? Thanks.

There is a power grommet on the drivers side and I ran "0" gauge along the drivers side to the trunk. No, the stock amp is mounted behind the passengers side trunk lining. It's silver and mounted on the trunk support pillar.

Can you somewhat tell the whereabouts of the grommet? And I found the amp, thank you. I'll be making my own thread once I get all my research and parts together

I checked with my installer and he actually drilled a hole in my firewall to run the "0" gauge. Send me a PM to discuss.

If you have 6MT, or even auto, I'm sure...there's a HUGE grommet under the car where the shifter comes up thru the floor...it'd be easy to run 0 AWG thru there.

I don't remember the gauge that I used (prob wasn't as big as 0 gauge) but I ran mine through the same hole that the hood release goes through. You may want to try that.

Hey there your Acura is so clean... GREAT INSTALL!!! I love the amp racks and the sub box is very well done. I am doing a purely OEM clean upgrade on my system and had a couple of questions for you and ahead of time sorry if they have already been answered. First for the front center speaker do you just remove the grill of the dash to access it or do you have to remove the entire dash. Also you mentioned earlier in the thread that the OEM tweeters have the crossovers "on the tweeter itself" so I was wondering if I understood that statement correctly and if those crossovers could be transferred (or) connected to another aftermarket tweeter? Thank you in advance for your response. I am wanting to do just a very clean factory upgrade and so far my plans are

6.5 infinity reference 6032cf front doors/Rear Deck
3.5 Infinity Reference 3032cf in center
Tweeters... Undecided
Sub... Undecided

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks. The center can be accessed by removing the grill. The tweeters have a small crossover capacitors attached to them and cannot be connected to another aftermarket tweeter. If you buy components to replace your front speakers, they should come with crossovers.

Had the system professionally installed so can's assist with specs. Any reputable shop should be able to do the same.

Brew,

How do you like the sound coming from your fiberglass enclosure?

I heard a birch wood enclosure today and told my install guy to make me a new box...it sounded amazing. Same Fi BL I have too.

I'm very happy with the glass enclosure. The installer did a great job building the box with the added glass thickness I wanted. Send me a pic of your new wood enclousre.

You weren't kidding. The Zapco is long. How much trunk space will you loose after complete your changes?

All. Which is no problem since the car stays in the garage most of the time. I have them stacked at the moment, but the amps are so nice I want to display them better and bring out the DSP too (it's hidden in the spare tire well now).

I didn't like the sound of my fiberglass enclosure after I heard his. LOL.

My install guy is designing the box using a computer program. 2.0-2.5 cu ft., 32Hz...maybe a 8" port coming through where the stock subwoofer use to sit. The box will sit flush against the rear seats.

I will post pics once complete!

I

Oh...I got a chance to hear the Focal Utopia's....AMAZING! Wow!

Fed by an Audison amp...sounded so clean. You must love yours huh?

I wouldn't either. They are some of the very best.

I'm looking at HAT Legatia's for my front stage this fall.

I want to ask... do you have your stock alternator?

Yes. Replaced my Optima and Batcaps with Stinger batteries. No issues at all.

I forgot to ask who built you glass enclosure and how was it mounted. Also when you heard the birch wood enclosure was the sub and amp identical to what you have?

Built here locally by the same guy that does all my audio.

Same sub different amp. He had a RF Punch.

Brew help a brother out. Just got my TL a week ago and after tint decided to go with stereo next. I recently bought a JL cleansweep, an alpine pdx 1.600 and alpine pdx 2.150. Paid $440 for all that from Big10purdue (fellow acurazine member). My questions are as follows: 1) What else do I need to run a great set up? **I'm not trying to spend $5,500** 2) I have done my research on the pdx 1.600 Would you recommend one 12" or two 10"s? 3) Sealed or ported? 4) To keep cost down I was thinking I would run the front of the car to the pdx 2.150 (meaning front doors and tweeters). I get so confused with this 5.1 channel car with 10 speakers or whatever it is. The only other thing I know is that I'm removing the factory sub to let the bass come into the cabin. I do want a nice clear sounding set up. Please give me your advice on what else I need to make it happen. Thanks again!!

Smile great set up

which shop did you go to? I plan on the JL 900/5 replacing the front and rear speakers and bypassing the center and rear door speakers and upgrading the sub. That sub enclosure looks like the one Uncald4 builds and sells.

Safe and Sound in Manassas. The enclosure is not the one sold by Uncald4.

It's not a cheap endeavor and I'm sure many 4G owners won't bother because of the total cost. I just wanted to share with the forum that it can be done and will send pics once complete.
Hey Brew, I have an 09 Pearl White TL Tech and I went essentially the same route as you minus the cleanseeps. I instead used the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3. Any advice on getting things tuned correctly or is there any way you could send me your EQ curve? I'm having a hell of a time and really wanna get this sounding what it's worth cost wise.
Thanks in advance.

Hey Jordan. I no longer have the TL and have a higher end system in my 2018 RLX. My advice to you in to clean up the input curve before the 3sixty.3. I highly recommend installing a JL Fix82. The problem you are having is your OEM curve is so jacked up, your processor can’t correct it. Take a look at my RLX system post. I will post new pics soon since most of the equipment has changed.

I looked into the JL fix 86 but the 3sixty.3 is supposed to be able to handle correcting the factory signal and letting me eq it. But even with my calibrated UMIK-1 and REW I cant seem to get a good sound. It's been driving me nuts for about a year now. I put everything in myself and it's all wired and installed very solid but the tuning is just a nightmare. I'm about to try to swap my dash from the tech nav to the base model so I can retain my hvac display up top where the old nav screen was and install an aftermarket head unit kit so I can avoid the need for the 3sixty.3 and just tune straight off the deck.

Is sound like you just need the proper equipment to tune your vehicle. Do you own an O-Scope and RTA? If no, you should purchase both items and learn how to tune using them. Without seeing how you have your factory system inputs connected to your processor and having the proper equipment to tune, there isn’t much I can do to help you.

You can always take your TL to a reputable car audio installer and have them tune it for you so that you at least have a “baseline.”

We all hear differently and like the sound of our music differently so the “baseline” tune will allow you to “dial in” your personal sound preferences.
