From 2G Type S to 4G SH-AWD

I just traded my old 2002 TL Type S SSM with only 120,000km on it to a 2009 SH-AWD Tech WDP with only 57,000km. Had to let it go as the tranny started to ack up on it for past 12 month or so. Now I got this beauty and pretty happy so far.

Here are the "not so far away", future mods: (blue links are clickable)

1. iJDMTOY Bi-Color 57 pcs Xenon White, 57 pcs Amber Yellow Switchbacks - Shipped

2.iJDMTOY Special LED Daytime Running Light Decoder Wiring Relay Kit for installing LED bulbs on high beam as DRL lamps - Shipped

3. iJDMTOY Xenon White 120-SMD 360-degree shine 9005 LED Bulbs For Fog Lights or Daytime Running Lights - Shipped

4. PAINTED ACURA TL 4TH NH603P SEDAN REAR ROOF SPOILER - Shipped

5. WDP OEM Lip Kit from Tim@oemacuraparts.com - Shipped

6. OEM All weather rubber mats from Tim@oemacuraparts.com - Shipped

7. White 168 and DE3022 LED bulbs from eBay - Shipped

8. DDM HID Kit, 35W, H11, 4500K for the fogs - Shipped

9. Window tint, most likely HP Quantum tint between 20% and 35% - next month

10. Paint the inside piece of the front grille WDP

Here are some "if my wife will let me" future mods:

1. Tein SS drop

2. Some 19" rims

3. Black vinyl roof

4. Vinyl tinted tail lights, rear side markers and the mirror turn signals.

Here are some pictures of the car 2 days after i picked it up from the dealer.

Thanks man! I always have fun upgrading my rides.

I'll be posting pictures as I progress with the mods in case some people are interested in doing the same mods and want to see how they will look like on a WDP.

It's nice that all i need to know you're in Canada, is look at the front bumper (headlight washers)! lol.

Note on the tint. the factory glass is already tinted (i think somebody on here said it's around 70% tint? cant remember exactly). But my 35% aftermarket tints feels/looks closer to 20-25%. Just a heads up!

Congrats on the upgrade! I like the color combo.

I can't help but laugh at the "if my wife will let me" list. I was in the same boat recently when wanting to upgrade to aftermarket wheels. I laid out the numbers and let her know that by the time I replaced my OEM tires (which wasn't too far off) I'd be spending as much as if I bought aftermarket wheels / tires and sold my stockers. Fortunately she bought in and now I'm rocking some 20" XO's for a little over a grand (net of proceeds from sale of 19" stockers). Had I bought the same Michelin PS tires to replace my OEM ones I would've spent more than that!

Good luck!

I wish I could get away with having one set of rims like you guys do down south. Here in Canada we gotta have the summer and the winter rims, not by law but by common sence. So I'll have to keep my stock rims and put winter tires on them and then do my majic on the wife for a nice aftermarket set.

I just bought a 2009 CPO white/ebony.... looks just like yours except mine lacks the mud gaurds...I was looking at your pics debating if I should order them...

are you going to lower anytime soon? that's next on my list! I just did tint, and now a mild drop on H&Rs is probably next.

Car looks good! looks llike you have umber interior??? that is rare. nice.

I'm getting the lip kit installed on mine and will have no use for the mud guards so I'll sell them.

I'll be lowering the car but next spring/summer. most likely coil overs.

WDP with Amber interior is pretty rare in my area so I'm glad I found that one.

Thanks guys for all the comments. I'm starting to receive all my parts. Just got all the iJDMTOY DRL and switchback LEDs. Will be installing them soon.

I'll post some pictures once I install them.

Ok, picked up the roof spoiler a couple of days ago and installed it yesterday. Install was pretty easy. I had to leave some weight on it over night. Tested it in the morning and it was welded on. Here are a couple of pictures.

Good experience. I had lots of fun, until it started to get darker. I just started slowly to hate myself for not getting the kit installed by the dealer and then closer to 10pm my head started to feel numb and slowly turned into a pumpkin by 11:30pm.

I like the look of the OEM kit and, although the color of the lip kit does not match 100%, it still looks pretty close.

I like the LED DRL light even though they are closer to the 6500k color as oppose to the advertised xenon white.

I was kind of disappointed with the color of the LED switchbacks. The orange part looks very similar to my blinkers on the mirrors but the white part has a hint of green in it. It looks more like 3900k - 4000k temp color comparing to my OEM 4300k HIDs. I'll be looking for a different set of LEDs for switchbacks as all my lights look a little mismatched now.

H11 HID kit for my fog lights is coming next week so I'll update the thread as soon as they are installed.

Yeah, made love with her for sure and she was on top for most of the time too. Saved a LOT of money by installing everything myself!

Wow your TL looks different after you installed the body kit. I feel what you mean about your switchbacks and mix match with the rest of the hid's but I'd suggest getting 60 smd led for the turn signals to match with your DRL set. Overall you did great but now you need to lower it a bit with teins or H&R springs.

No, that's definetly not me. I rarely drive the car.

The DDM H11 Fog kit actually looks pretty close to my OEM HID lows. It's just the switchbacks that have a little hint of green in it so they look off comparing to the lows and fogs. I just bought another set of switchbacks from iJDMToy. It's a "super bright" projector style switchbacks. iJDMToy told me those are white for sure. I'll do a separate review on them when I install them and compare them to my first set.

I've decided to replace my old set of iJDMToy LED Switchbacks(LINK HERE) with a new "High Power 1157" set(LINK HERE). Old one had a hint of green in it due to bi-color SMDs in the bulb, same SMD for white and abber. Full comparison of both sets is available(CLICK HERE).

Yeah it sucked. I was able to buff out most of the surface scratches but there are 3 deep scuffs. Those will probably have to get touched up as I would hate to take the front lip off and repaint the whole bumper just because of the 3 scuffs.

Have you try wet sanding with 1500 sandpaper and finish using compound or polish.

Wr00m, you really like playing around with new toys.

The 4G TL forum needs more of people like you to try out new things and share your experience, so we can all learn more.

I used a scratch remover and polish. That's how the whole thing looks now:

It looks much better then before but I'm left with the deep scratches that are right through the paint. I'll have to touch those up.

Hey man, thanks!

I've used this forum so much for my DIY projects back when I had my 2G TL-S, so now it's my turn to give a little back to the community.

I too had a 2002 TL-S before, and I had also contributed a lot to and had learned a lot from the 2G forum, dated all the way back to year 2000.

There were and still are lots and lots of modding activities going on in the 2G forum.

In comparison, it is so quiet in terms of modding activities in this 4G forum.

Your WDP TL looks great, I love the lip kit and the roof spoiler!
It really transformed your car.
